On my dads 2005 the speedo will not return to zero and is stuck around forty.

I am assuming this is a cluster problem can i replace the cluster or does it have to be programmed by gm?

you can replace just the stepper motor if you want. There is a DIY for that on the forum. You can just swap the cluster, but you will need to have it programmed for the current mileage. Some places you can pull it out, send it in, and they will replace the stepper motor.

there is a ugy on ebay, i think some on here have delt with him, he will replace all motors for 125, my rpm guage goes crazy some days.
to lazy to pull it out to get it fixed

I'm sure you searched and know that if the truck has less then 80k miles gm will provide from assistance on gauge cluster replacement. Up to 70k parts and labor free. 70-80k free parts you pay 1 hour labor.

no I had not done any research yet. Thanks for the info. Is there a bulletin on this or just something to ask for at the dealer.
