Hey guys, new here. Kind of bummed out right now because I'm 90% sure my stealth 64 just failed on me. Again. Back in November my stock turbo started blowing oil out the exhaust with about 128K on it and at first I wasn't sure if it was turbo or failing injectors. So I decided to do both; as well as a CP3 swap and ARP head studs while it was apart. I have Industrial 20% over injectors, fleece CP3 and the aforementioned DT stealth 64 along with tuning from Starlite. Prior to this I was running a Minimaxx and i have an Airdog 4g 165.

So this is where things fall apart. About 200 or so miles into having the truck back together i started noticing a little blue smoke hazing after I would leave a stop sign, etc. This got worse and worse over the next couple hundred miles to the point where i knew something was definitely wrong. Pulled the downpipe and sure enough, it was coated with oil. Pulled the turbo off, sent it to DT. They told me nothing was wrong with the turbo, and that my oil drain must be clogged. It wasn't. Anyway 200 bucks for a rebuild and 2 weeks later I get the turbo back from DT. Install it a couple days later. Everything seemed fine until today. Same story. Starting to see blue smoke again and I'll be shocked if there isn't oil in the downpipe when I pull it off tomorrow.

Obviously this is incredibly frustrating. I am at a loss here. Thankfully I have a backup vehicle while the truck is down. I am very disappointed in how all of this has gone so far. What do I do?

P.S. Thanks for reading all of this and thanks for any leads.

Make sure your PCV isn't plugged/kinked or in my case frozen as it cost me a factory turbo. Oil coming out the tailpipe, plumes of blue smoke.

Those turbos are junk. Seen many, many of them fail. Most under 1000 miles and not abused. Danville, dans, or woldfab is the way to go for aftermarket vgts.

I don't know about the newer vgts on the LML trucks, but I know of TONS of stealth turbos failing on LB7/LLY/LBZ trucks- usually within 2000 miles, most within a couple hundred. So yeah, I would suggest going elsewhere for drop-in replacements. I sure liked my Fleece Cheetah when I had it on my LB7- totally different than LML, I know, but a cheetah is what I'm planning on putting on my LML sometime this summer hopefully- unless I decide to do twins

Also check out Ryan's Diesel Service. I have their 66mm on my truck and it's great. I went with their new option. But they also have reman units if your looking to save a little coin.

I wish there was a way to know how the failed turbos were treated and the entire story behind the failures. Most people in my area run them, including me, and I've never heard of them failing. And most of the online failures are "a buddy of mine" or "someone I know". I turn mine to 43 psi on stock fuel and has been fine for 5000 miles so far. I play, but I don't abuse it. They've been building and selling them for many years, so my guess its that you hear of more failures because of simple mathmetics. The sell a tremendous number of them. But they probably still have an equal if not lower failure rate compared to any other brand. If brand A sells 100k units and 500 fail, you are sure to hear about several of those failures. If brand B sell 20k units and 200 fail. You may not hear about any of those failures, but the failures rate is higher. I could be completely wrong......or completely right.

Still no word on whether or not I'll get it covered with warranty. Wish I had done better research before I bought it. Live and learn.

In the Last 3 years we have installed 5 of them on customers trucks… all but one have failed…1 within 6 miles. 1 has been replaced twice and just went out again. The one that hasn’t went bad yet is because the customer rarely drives it and when he does he babies it. They have not complained about replacing them under warranty tho.

I'm gonna beat the dead horse, my 11 blade stealth 67g2 turbo has 25000 (101400 install 126000+ to date ) miles on it so far. The turbo was purchased back in August 2021. I have run Aaron's tuning max effort tuning and have had my truck turning 4000 rpms on fuel only, my turbo works great and have had zero issues with it other than the shity oil solenoid they sent me. Always check your truck for boost leaks, egts, and air filters they are all the number 1 killer of turbos
