thats weird cause mine just did the same thing about a week ago i tried pulling the fuse with no luck so i priced one out a brand new one is 650 bucks and a reman one is 370 so i just put an aftermarket one in no way im spending that much on a factory one. Im pretty sure yours is pry gonna need to be replaced as well.

Mine runs off the factory amp, unless im mistaken. I have an adapter from the factory bose harness. Its been awhile since I looked at the schematic but I have all the speaker wires mated. I also have the amp trigger hooked up, pink wire I think. Ive never turned it on without triggering the amp to see what would happen.

I guess I shouldnt have said no without being 100%, but I'm pretty sure that 4x200a's would not sound as good if it werent going though the amp.

You use a wire harness that plugs into the factory wires behind the stereo. The speakers wouldn't work without the amp unless you want to run new speaker wires.

NO.........
you can wire it that way but its a royal pain in the balls....just gotta go into the console and basically manualy cut and splice wires to bypass the amp...that way if your new head unit is powered as just about all of them are it wont go from quiet to way to loud in 5 clicks...

to the OP if you little cd symbol is flashing the disc changer if probably kaput....its a common problem sadly. the easiest and cheapest solution is to just go aftermarket...or dont listen to cds anymore lol

Why would you bypass the amp? The aftermarket deck has a "remote" turn on wire that turns the amp on.

most aftermarket decks are already amplified...running through another amp (an amp with no volume control) makes the sound get exponentially louder and hard to find a good level...plus its not helping the quality at all

it would be much easier to just turn the internal amplifier off, as you would do in a situation with an aftermarket head unit and aftermarket amplifier, i.e. my old setup. any decent head unit will have this feature.
