well i just replaced my cp3 pump and my truck has about twice the power:) if i stay out of 5th gear will my stock tranny hold up to 175 and 225 hp over stock? today my tranny didnt slipt on these tunes at all?

Yeah it might not slip today... but in about a week or so it's going to limp on 175hp or up without a doubt

Yea I use to run my max effort (200+) tune and it held fine in the lower gears for about a month... After that I limped it 6 times in 2 weeks on my 160 daily driver tune...

Unless you have the money for a built trans just sitting in your back pocket I wouldn't recommend it...

ya i hear u guys i been tryin to stay on tune 3 witch is 125 over stock.. i guess ill save it for one time down the track for a good quarter mile.. tune 3 rips plenty enough:) if all wishes came true ide wish for a suncoast haha.

well it seems to me most ppl only limp there trannys shifting into 5th gear. ive heard some guys say i wont break my tranny unless it shifts into 5th gear even on 225 tune.. any one else run big tunes an get away with it?

Will a torque converter delay the inevidable of rebuilding your tranny on like a 130 or 140 hp over stock tune or will it just burn the cluches more.

mine did into 5th or getting on it in 5th gear. be easy on it.

it would but if you are going to take the time/money to do it, then you might as well do thewhole tranny then. and it will only hold it for so long.

It can be done...

I have over 200 1/4 mile pass with agressive tune like PPE Hot +2 lvl 6 and EFI live Duramaxtuner max effort tune. I also launch hard on 4x4 (10-12 psi).

How i made this far? I dont know...
I watch my upshift 4-5-6
Everytime i do rolling start i put it in manual and tow haul mode.
My daily driving is smooth and easy on the trans.
I use manual mode on the 1/4 miles because it seems to shift better than automatic.
I have transgo JR shiftkit
I have PPE deep pan to keep temperature low
I dont do agressive downshift on the highway.

I ran 12,83 on stock tranny.

How long will it last? Maybe 1 year or maybe till tomorrow.
Actually (knock on wood), it shift great and no problem with it.

That didn't answer my question. Will a torque converter make the stock tranny last longer. Not what should I do. Will it make it be able to last longer on 130 hp or 140 hp tunes. I would think that would make it last longer.
