Hi All
Recenty my tach stopped working on my 2003 Silverato 3500.
I took it at a friend's auto shop, (he's not a diesel mechanic), and he plugged into a computer in the port under the dash by the E brake. He was able to move the tach needle. Then after starting the truck he was able to read RPM on the computer, but not on the tach. So are there two sencors? If so, can anyone tell me where they are and how to find them? Pictures would be great.
Thanks, Al

Your cluster is bad. The stepper motor for your tachometer went out. This is a common problem for MY 2003-2007. Visit your local speedometer shop for repair or there are online options. Have them replace all of the stepper motors and all of your bulbs while they have the unit apart.

What he said. You can save at least $100 if you know how to solder on a circuit board and buy the stepper motors yourself. I bought genuine updated replacements off of ebay for around $30, the kit usually comes with new light bulbs as well.

I had all kinds of problems with my gauges none working ect. Turned out to be cruise control fuse in the cab and the radio fuse under the hood maybe check into that it was driving me nuts and everyone told me the same thing it's the cluster ended up being a fuse lol
