so my son took the jeep jz wheeling with friends and a mixture of sand and gravel did a number on the windshield when he turned the wipers on to clear the view. So now there are fine scratches like a rainbow on the window, both sides.

So how in in heck do I get these scratches out? Any tips and or tricks would be great.

Spent all day cleaning the jeep undercarriage and all to get all the mud and sand from under, since this will be the last mud, sand she will see for the summer. Just want to make her look good for the summer runs.

About the only thing is RainX. It will fill in small scratches to an extent. Otherwise you would have to deal or replace the windshield.

I've seen stuff called "Jeweller's Rouge" used in glass shops. This is a powder they combine with water to make a paste, then go nuts with an orbital polisher. It makes a hell of a mess due to splattering and it takes a while to melt the scratches but it does work.

Apparently a combo of windex and rainx spray will buff out most scratches. You NEED to replace your wipers too, the dust and dirt is now on them, just replace them. It will also change the scratch patters.

well I tried a few things and seems I might just replace the windshield.

I have used some rubbing compound or even some real fine steel wool to take out scratches then buffed the glass out.

at this point I think I will see what a window cost, but I might try some other stuff if I get bored

Rubbing compound and a buffer.
