I went to smog my truck ('02 silverado CC/LB) today and failed!
Reason, "Service Engine Soon" light was on! Well, I'm gonna blame
myself for that because I see it so often that I've been ignoring it
but didn't think it would cause me to fail smog.

The tech pointed out also the I had fault codes and that may be the
reason for the light.

The fault codes I got:

P0118: ECT CKT High Input
P0181: Feul temp sensor A CK Range/Performance

What can I do about the fault codes and the Service engine Soon?
Are they related? I have an OBD II reader somewhere, but I don't think
it can clear codes. If I need a new one which ones do you recommend?

One good thing is that the station will let me come back for a free retest.
I just need to resolve nthe check engine light (service engine soon) and the
fault codes.

Thanks and any help would be appreciated.

Gary, you can either fix the sensors, or have your tune adjusted to disable MIL on the codes. We have done this for a few failures here in AZ.
