So I have been looking online and pricing mods for my truck trying to figure out what be the best mods for my truck for a good price. My truck is my daily driver and I use it to tow my fifth wheel trailer.

Well I thought I had it all priced and figured out when I saw that Banks was having a sale over the 4th of July (From what people say on here it is an ok system but way over priced). So I figured I would call and see how much it was on sale. Well the sale price put the Power pack system for about as much as I have figured everything else price wise to be and on top of that they would sell me the Speedbrake for a discounted price.

Well I decided to bite and got the system. Will start installing it tomorrow. One problem is I don't think the CAI will fit with the LBZ MP. I'm thinking that I will have to keep the stock MP and order the AFE. If that's the case anyone need and LBZ MP?

Will post pictures as I go.

Banks makes a good product or they would not be in buisness.....
Banks is just not for everybody. You will be pleased with the banks "bundle" it is designed to give you performance as a package and it all works well as a kit.

So what did you end up paying? if you dont mind

I got the powerpack bundle for just over $3200 and the speedbrake for just over $600. I had been figuring around $4000 for CAI, exhaust, tuned ECM, gauges, intercooler, and down pipes.

If you have the lbz mouthpiece order the air intake for a lbz
I should have done that. I had ordered the LBZ MP and it was lost in the mail for a little bit and then got delivered the day after the Banks stuff arrived. Just my luck.

Sorry should have been $3000. My total price came close to $4000 after buying the speedbrake.

Bills Custom Intake= 150
AFE 4" Exhaust = 300
EFI Live = 900
DE Downpipe = 180
Stock intercooler = free
Air Dog II 165= 632

For a grand total of 1932.

You will be happy with your banks... But for what I listed above, you would have a better running and more powerful truck for half the price.

Sorry if this seems dickish.
Those are close to the prices that I had only I had figured the intake and exhaust a little higher and then I had figured in a intercooler which aren't cheap. That put me close to $3000 not including shipping.

Ok so I started putting the parts on this morning. The air intake was super easy and fit perfectly. Actually my wife installed it(that girl is awesome) while I started on the exhaust.

Now the exhaust was a different story. Since I don't have a garage I was doing the work at the Auto center on Post. I was having a hard time getting the bolts loose from the catalytic converter so one of the guys that worked at the Auto center heated them up with a torch and used a large torque wrench to take them off. Well he decided to try one without heating it up and broke the stud off. I figured no big deal. I had my wife go to the store and buy a bolt while I tried to use a punch and hammer to knock out what was left of the stud. Yeah right!!! That thing didn't budge. One of the other guys that worked there tried hitting on it and then took an air hammer to it and it still didn't move. We decided that the best bet from there was to try and drill it out. About an hour or so later I had only managed to make a small hole in it. I figured screw it and just bolted the exhaust system using the remaining 3studs. Well the exhaust fit nicely. My only complaint with the install was because I have the extended cab short bed I had to cut 9 1/2" off of the first pipe. Good times with a hack saw. Overall it turned out nice.

I did notice better throttle response driving home. The first couple of times I hit the "skinny petal" I put out a nice cloud of black smoke(I'm sure the motorcycle behind me was enjoying that). After about the 3rd time doing some hard acceleration I didn't have the smoke cloud anymore.

Looks like I have a funny stack coming out of the bed.

Well next weekend I will install the intercooler and down pipes and when that is done I will add the tuner and speedbrake. I probably should figure out what to do with that missing stud though I didn't notice any exhaust leak.

Return it quick, it is junk!!! Everything about their tuning sucks, only good part is their return policy!!!:rofl I had a terrible expirence, my truck fuc..in cut off while I was in an intersection and threw a crank position sensor code and would not restart untill I took it off in the middle of traffic. I got a full refund though. Good luck

was there a particular reason why you wanted a intercooler? if egts were you're primary concern a water meth kit is a good bang for the buck

I do want lower EGT's since I use my truck to tow a heavy 5th wheel and from most things that I have read it does lower EGTs and increases MPGs and power output. Overall I'm not looking at huge gains in HP but in increased torque for better towing.
I didn't know about water/meth kits. I just briefly looked them up and they didn't seem to be that much cheaper than the IC. Plus having to buy and add another fluid regularly doesn't sound too enticing.

one question tho did you get a cat back system?
I did get a cat back system that was what was in the bundle. I forgot to ask about a turbo back system though with the stud being broken I am thinking about getting a cat delete pipe. Being in the military I don't have to worry about emissions for now but If I do move back to Washington state then I will probably have to put the cat back on.

One disappointment today though. I had read that the Banks IQ had GPS but I missed the fine print. That is an extra feature to buy. If I do have problems with it then I have no qualms with returning it.

You can get a whole transmission kit, efi live, and an exhaust, for 4000. That is if the transmission is installed yourself.
So far I have about 4300$ into this new truck. Soon to be 4700 when I install my lift pump.

Banks bundles give you unnecessary parts such as an intercooler and intake, that alone can take away 1500$ worth of parts.

give the guy a break guys. banks is good stuff. it is pricey. and it does not add all the HP it says it does. but they do make good things. their intake is the best for actually getting colder air if you are looking for a intake. yes intercooler might not help. but it might help. he obviously coulda got other things but it is what he wanted..

one question tho did you get a cat back system?

replace cat

do performance companys sell prebent 4" exhaust to replace the cat from the turbo to the rear end of the cat or is that illegle. rolly 2004.5 gmc lly 4" exhaust from cat back now.

#33 ·
They sell them but are usually only recommended for racing. It depends on your state laws whether or not it is illegal to not have a cat.

mbrp does sale a cat delete pipe bolts right in . i love my banks stuff i just didn't pay full price , i did have problems with my 6 gun , but i finally got them to replace it and the truck never ran this good . everybody has opions as long as your happy that is what really matters . they do stand behind there stuff as long as you buy direct

I love my Banks Big Hoss Bundle. Warranty nearly over, then EGR delete, Cat delete, and then leave it alone and enjoy it. Not everyone has the money or the desire to rip out a tranny and constantly screw with the reliability.

If I were to buy a used truck, yes EFI all the way. This is my daily driver and I am very pleased with the Banks upgrades, even the intercooler.

Reliability with Banks?:cookoo[1]: Now that is truely funny!!!!! :rofl :rofl :rofl My truck ran like a bag of dicks with the 6 gun it constantly threw codes limped and would not start. Just wait untill it shuts off in a major intersection on ya, and you have to pull that crapp of to get it to restart, threw a loss of crank position signal code (89) holy shi..... The only thing banks does well is refunds.

I have had ZERO, ZERO, ZERO, issues with either my PPE 60,000 miles driven on it or the EFI tunes Rob built me. Banks intercepts and corrupts signals to and from the ECM, the flash programmers actually change them, way more reliable method bc the factory equipment has not been changed or modified. Banks physically intercepts the can bus connection to the engine, WAY more things can and do go wrong when doing this. Do some more research, you will see.

Wow. Definitely should have researched it a bit better man. But as long as you're happy with it that's all that matters! Just pains me a bit to read
Hope she runs great for you with that stuff, banks truly is quality gear.
