When pulling a light load like an empty flatbed gooseneck ~4000 lbs. do you need to use the tow-haul? I am a reformed powerstroker and the tow-haul is new to me. I do not want to damage the transmission but I figured the fuel economy would be better without the tow-haul when pulling empty. Thanks.

during tow tow hwul mode the tq converter locks up more often it will lock in the last part of 2nd in 3,4,and 5 it does this to retain cooler trans temps it also delays shifts to get the max power out of your truck, running in tow haul is decided by you if the trans temps are up or it whats to shift from 4 to 5 often then run tow haul

I seem to remember the owners manual says to use T/H when towing at 70% of GCWR or more for better fuel economy. That said, you will not harm anything but fuel consumption by using T/H as you desire.
