i was in the mountains for the 1st time since bolting on a new ranch hand bumper....looks like no air was getting to the trans cooler, so i drilled 9 2" holes in front to get air to the cooler..

now I'm thinking of adding a deeper oil pan to the transmission..

thought?

Cessna,

225F isn't really that hot for a Allison.

However, if max protection is a concern, consider changing to Allison Transynd Fluid, Get the Deep pan and do the trans cooler mod to raise it into better airflow.

BTW, the PPE deep pan on mine lowered trans temps a solid 30-40F.

I've never seen that high of a temp before the new bumper, and the tranny is new.
