Recently came back from a trip to Arizona from California and a whine started underneath the truck (2006 CCSB 4x4). I think I’ve narrowed it down to the transfer case. I myself have not done the pump rub kit yet and wondering if he whining noise means it’s too late for my t-case? No cracked case or oil leaking. Truck has 160,000 miles. Anything helps!

Did you check the fluid level in it? Most of the time with pump rub you can't easily see the hole and you won't see the fluid leak.

I flushed the case and changed the fluid and the noise got a whole lot quieter if not it went away. Will keep updated

Do the pump rub kit soon. Probably have some damage already starting

How much fluid came out with the initial drain of the t-case? If you already had a noise or whine from it, likely the damage is done and you just bandaided it until the hard parts fail, so you better have a plan in place
