what is a turbo resonator??

 

Its the black deal that says 6.6 liter on it right on top the motor. Its supposed to act as a silencer for the turbo. Less whistle noise

 

I am wondering also what size cap people have used. I want to try to cap it to see if if gets rid of the howl\growl my truck has from the turbo. That is the only thing I don't like about the my LML

 

I used a 2" on my LLY......are they the same size as the LML? The plug will actually make the whistle louder, not much but a little bit.

 

the turbo resonator looks more like cheap plastic bling than anything usefull

 

I used a 1.5" cap on my LML and if anything it made it quieter, putting the resonator back on.

 

anfo, does your truck have the "ghostly" howl when the truck is warmed up and when the turbo is building boost?

 

It did until I capped the resonator, now its just quiet unless the clutch fan kicks on.

 

Thanks. Where did you get your cap from? I am going to try it tomorrow as the howling gets to me after a while.

 

I bought a rubber pipe cap with a clamp on it from lowes for $3.00 and it made my turbo louder on my lbz. I ran it for a couple weeks then bought the billet plug from alligator cause i like the look better.

Home depot plumbing section, 1 1/2 inch cap with clamp it was like 1 or 2 bucks.

Yep, my howl is pretty much all gone now.

 

DmaxhdLML what howl are you talking about? and did you hear more hiss from the turbo?

 

The howl is at a certain RPM range when the truck is fully warmed up. It sounds "ghostly", not sure how else to explain it. Putting the cap on, I didn't get any more hiss or whistle.

 

i did it cost about 3.25 seams to have more his when windows are down and slightly better peddle response not sure if that is do to less resistance in the system or just my head. i also have the banks witch helps too.

 

installed a merchants aluminum cap. cant tell if it sounds differant because exhaust is pretty loud....but it looks cool

 

Even though I did this shit on my trucks I still don't believe anyone gets more whistle or throttle response. But it's hard to argue with everyone's ass gauge. The cleaner look is worth the couple bucks for an MA cap but that's about it.
