Do mud flaps help with that? I just got my new mud flaps delivered today, so will get them put on soon (I don't have the capability to remove the tires to do it myself).
I don't know how that area is now as far as how it is made. I know on my 2011 if you removed the rear tail light assembly it was an all open area below that. Even with flaps some water is going to make it's way up into that area. What GM should have done was block that area off with a drain hole. Any water that leaked in around the tali light assembly could drain off. I doubt they changed that rear area design.

Glad you're okay! I've been in a crash that caused my airbags to go off, so I understand. I got a small burn on my hand from the steering wheel one (pretty sure this was before the side airbags and all, so just the steering wheel one and the one above the glove box). It's crazy how fast it deflates, you don't even see it, it just suddenly is hanging there in your lap like WTH?! Powerful things to cause that much pain to your fingertips!

LOL, yeah, probably best not to post the F250. 🤣 These new trucks are definitely expensive, but since I plan to keep mine for a long time, and the low-mileage 2022 I looked at didn’t have the features I wanted (including the new grille style, Google Maps/the new infotainment layout, the speaker system, and more), I went for the new one and couldn't be happier. Also way happier with the dealership I ordered from versus the one that had the used one (which wasn't even what I went there to look at).

Haha, in my SUV, for the cigarette lighter cover, I have a flat red metal cover that says something like, "Fire Missiles" on it. You need that for those deer. 😂

Not a bad-looking truck, for a Ford. Maybe get some of that stuff that blackens the black plastic over the tires and makes them shiny? Or throw some vinyl wrap on them in chrome or a fun color or something, depending on your personality and tastes. Just thinking out loud what I would do since that's my frame of mine lately with what I'm doing to my truck.

The sun light makes the plastic look shiney when photographed.
It probably has every option available. The Monroney window sticker I printed off listed it for about $66K
The Nitto tires are just like what I had on my 2011. Those were about $2800. The rims were about $300.
Everything else added I don't know what the 1st owner paid for it.

That's great that it has all the options! Did you add the tires and wheels or did the previous guy?

I have been doing it myself 3 years running, I use Fluid film or Blaster Surface Shield (basically the same). I live in Eastern WA. I have seen no evidence of rust as of yet on my 2019. I remove the tires, inner wheel well shields and even coat up inside the frame and box. takes about 3 hours. this is after a year, before I re-coat.

The previous owner put the tires and rims on.

I looked under the rear behind the rear wheel wells and it has no rust. It has some type of undercoating. I presume the previous owner had it applied. I had the dealership send me some underside photo's before I went to look at it. 9 out 10 used trucks it seems like look like the Titanic rusty mess. Hard to find a good clean one.

That's good that there's undercoating and no rust! Will you keep undercoating it?

A nice morning drive bonding with my new truck in peace and quiet? Yes please! 😉
Who the F drives in peace and quiet?! I blast my music!! Can't drive without it. Or shower without it. Yeah, I sing along; please use ear plugs. 🤣 And not a morning person. Or a fan of the area that place is in.

I have used Ziebart for decades, never had an issue, plus life time warranty against rust from inside out, of course if you trade every other year waist of money

I have a Ziebart undercoating scheduled. I don't know if what is on there is Ford applied or by a dealer. I noticed along the frame any exposed bolt heads are shiney so I suspect maybe factory applied. It doesn't look to be a heavy undercoating.

Anyone use this brand, New Hampshire Oil Undercoating? I Googled undercoating places and a place fairly close to me that specializes in spray-on bed liners and undercoating uses it. They spray the undercarriage and fog other places that are hard to reach, according to their site.

Note they say to not wash the undercarriage because it can wash off the coating and affect the longevity of its protection (normally one year).
I had mine undercoated with New Hampshire Oil Undercoating last year. I actually have an appointment next week for an annual inspection and touch up if necessary. I was told not to wash the undercarriage for a couple of days after the initial application but no warnings or instructions after that period. Hard to say after a year how it’s working. It’s messy to work on underneath though.

GM coats all HD truck frames with wax undercoating at the factory. It stays soft and if you undercoat over it with anything other than Fluid Film the wax will dry and fall off, taking your undercoating with it.

Fluid Film installer here has a coating for the wax that keeps it pliable. I had them do a level 4 rustproof on my 2024 3500. Special coating on the wax and oil rustproof everywhere else. Cost me $600 but I know it works. Yearly reports are around $100. I had my 2015 Ram done and sold it in August with no rust.

Working on the truck is a bit messy and you can't run thru a high pressure undercarriage wash because r it will remove it.

My son had NH Oil Undercoating sprayed on his truck this summer. Black underneath & they sprayed clear inside doors & panels. Nice jibe & it clings great. Don’t expect for it to was off like fluid film does. I plan on getting my truck done with it soon . $250 US
Wow, that's cheaper than here where it is $350 plus there's an option for a $100 additional type of treatment (I'm not sure what the need for it is). Glad it seems to be good for your son's truck!

Yeah, I can imagine it would be quite messy! That's why I'm waiting until I get the stuff installed that I need to get installed (not sure if they need to get underneath for the Tonneau cover drainage holes or electrical, but the wiring for the new lights over the wheels needs to be tied up underneath, and then I'll have the mud flaps on too).

Let me know if they have to do a touch-up as I'm interested in how well it lasted.

Interesting. I'll have to ask these people if their coating affects said wax or if they have another thing they do for it. Nice that your 2015 was rust-free!

The GM wax coating dries out over time, that’s the issue. Having it oiled annually or every other year should stop that from happening. Even if it does crack for whatever reason then the oil spray works it’s way in/under to keep it from rusting. They key is to keep it somewhat moist to keep it from drying out.
On another subject, I really wish that GM would just dip the frames in E-coat instead of the wax. Much easier to maintain IMO, especially if rust proof oiling.
