Hi guys, need some advice.
I looked at a 2002 Pace 8.5 x 20 ft enclosed trailer to buy. Owner used it to haul show car around the south so it is clean for 15 years old. Usually stored inside. Nice. I need it for my mowing business.
5200 lb Torflex axles are my concern. Pre-cambered or just bent?? Square tube. Dexter axles I believe. The front one looks bent upward in the center. Like someone jacked it up in the center of axle. The rear one does not have as much arch as front. No impact marks front or rear on axles or on floor joist. I could not find a good pic on Dexter's site showing their cambered axle to compare to this one. Rubbed across tires and no uneven wear or cupping in any direction. That should be the test to check for bent axle and it passed that.
Anyone have any knowledge, advice or opinions about these axles?
He wants $4,000. for it. It has a 4 ft man door plus 3-4 ft "escape door" above tires on drivers side. That would handy for re-fueling mowers at station. Alum wheels w E range tires that are almost 5 years old and have cracking in sidewalls. It needs new tires. Brakes are said to be 2 years old. I'm thinking it is worth $4,000 with new tires.
A new no name brand trailer (cheap) optioned out similarly is $5200. 16" floor joist, 5200 axles, 3 ft man door, no escape door, rear dove tail, probably white spoke wheels. More Harbor Freight than Snap On would be a good comparison. 5 year warranty. I still have to buy racks and build shelves for either.
Let me know. Thanks!
