I recently purchased a 2004 duramax 3500 and i noticed what sounds like a valve tapping. When I first start the truck the tap is not there but when the engine reaches about 170 the tap starts and when the engine gets to running temp the tap almost goes away. This winter has been cold and it seems the tap got louder, but when the temp reaches 190 the tap still almost goes away, I can barely hear it. Some people told me that I will never get rid of it and others have told me it could be a bad valve or lifters or something. Can anyone give me any suggestion of what cause the tap and if it is serious. Thanks
