I have an 03 2500HD crewcab short bed, I've had a very annoying vibration at a speed 45-50mph, I've had it into the tire shop a 3 times telling them to check for out of round and balance, they tell me they are good, bfgoodrich 28575r16 I still think it might be a bent rim or tire, but cant tell, I've had the rear end serviced, transmission serviced, driveline balanced, shocks replaced will billstiens can't seem to get rid of it, it is extremely annoying and right on que 45 mph. Any advice or suggestion would help.

Have you checked your u joints?? I had a bad vibration tha started around 45-50mph. Had that vibration for about 10,000 miles before I found out the ujoint at the rearend was bad. So bad in fact I am amazed it didnt break. had to have therear yoke replaced on the drive shaft. I had my tire balanced, then rotated and balanced al before I found the bad u-joint.

did you notice a difference in the vibration while braking, going into curves or even changing as you drive?
whent they rebalanced the tires did they rotate them or only rebalanced..

on a gasser i had it did something similar when my knock sensor went out

Yeah, my rear u-joints are new, they did also rotate tire after balance, front u-joints are factor u-joints though, I have heard about problems with the bfgoodrich tires though. I don't notice problem when braking or turning, just as soon as i hit 45 mph my truck start to vibrate, I'm wonder if one of the belts in one of the tires is bad.

If one of your belts were bad you would feel a difference when you had them rotated. If it was on the front you would have a pull to the side that was bad. That is my experience anyway.

Man there could be a ton of things. Do you feel it in the seat or in the steering wheel? Did it get any better or worse after the tire shop rotated the tires?

I have an 03 2500, same thing was happening found out it was the wheel bearings, replaced and it was fine. have you checked them?

Haven't checked the wheel bearings, I feel it under the seat. I will have to try and check the bearings, it's about the only thing i haven't done.

Did you have both drive shafts balanced as one unit after you did the ujoint? If you are feeling it in your seat, I would guess that it is in the drive shaft or rear end.

Ya if its in the seat it probably a rear end or driveline noise. Check the U joints and might want to jack up the rear end and have someone sit in it and give it gas in drive so you can watch it spin. The vibration might be visible.

Mine is doing the same thing. I'm checking the front wheel bearings tomorrow morning. New tires and didnt help and they were balanced and dont need rotated yet. I had a bad upper ball joint that I'm thinking they had mistaken for a bad bearing so I'm checking it out tomorrow.

Vibration

Hey guys I had the same issue on my old 2002 2500 HD gaser. After about a year of bitchen to the tire manufacture Cooper ATR's that were brand new and numerous dealers and $$$. I finally got somewhere. First the new tires were out of round called tire force. After I recieved 4 new tire after driving a year on them the issue was still there. I then had the truck in a few dealers and they finally found a servive bulletin called GM frame beaming. If you search google or yahoo you can find the bulletin and a test to see if it goes away and part #'s for replacement cab mounts as a bandaid. Let me know if this helps.

I was right, my drivers side front hub bearing was shot. Sure rides a lot smoother now and doesnt vibrate under acceleration or deceleration anymore. Easy as heck to change, would have taken 15 minutes total if the guy helpin out hadnt slipped the dust shield in backwards. Makes it a alittle hard to put the rotor on that way.......
