So I'm looking at a S366 but does it have to be waste-gated or can I jut get by with good tuning? Maybe even a BOV too? Just curious. How will drive pressures and spool any difference?

I'd gate it a bov is really irrelevant...when your drive pressure exceeds your boost you loose hp because the exhaust has no where to go choking the engine...good tuning doesn't have much to do with it, it's more the size a/r your running and size of tune...but IMO a 366 needs a gate
