so i have an 04 lly and i have been reading alot on DD and here about the LLY's have HG failure, but mostly the 05's
i have the AFE MP, so that will help with overheating
i run about a 100hp tune daily, and when i tow its about a 50hp with turbo brake. what are ways i can prevent it? turning it back to stock? or what
i dont have EGT gauge im trying to talk my father into letting me get one. cause he still uses truck to tow camper
i just towed first camper with tow tune and it did good but this camper isnt near the weight of the one i pull..
i just get worried mine will go and i dont have any money to fix it
i should probably stop worrying. any pointers would be great. the most likely one people will give is turn it to stock

Deleting the cooler, and blocking the EGR will help, but it won't guarantee that your HGs won't fail

no studs this past year. I had EGR Blocked and the cooler deleted. No problems and I put about 60,000 miles on the truck since I done that

Head studs are needed when running on high cylinder pressures or larger turbos. Block the EGR for now, head gaskets usually go bad from running hot or beating the crap out of it. Keep it under 210 degrees, the head gasket will last.

111,893 miles.....had 16,000 on it when I bought it back in 05. It hasn't had a easy life either. use to tow a trailer with it daily, and then the pulling and drag racing on it wasn't easy it on it either.

There is no gas recirculation at HG integrity loads. An EGR block would not help.

Hands down, the best thing you can do, after the induction hardware issue is fixed, is to tune it with a boost smart tune that makes aggressive timing retard adjustments dynamically with increasing thermal stress. Water injection will also help.
