Seems like a basic question, but just trying to get an answer for when to do the first lube on my 2011 3500. Plan on changing oil at 3500 for first time but suspect that it will not need lube at that point. I came from a 06 Ford that had 0 (ZERO) fittings, so I need to figure it out.

What has everyone been doing?

I guess the next question is how often after that?

Thanks!

I would do the first change at 1000, then every 5-6k after that.
If I recall correctly, there are 11 zerks on the front end. I grease mine every oil change.

See I have 11 zerks under my 06 as well but haven't crawled under an 11 to see if have changed.

What interval you choose after the first one is up to you and the oil you choose to use. You can use convetional oil and stick with the oil minder in the dash or like many go by mileage and pay no attention to the dash minder.

I would also put the rear diff pretty high on the radar at 5k miles get that changed use synthetic and don't worry about it again until 55k. They come with and get a lot of shavings in them after the first 5k miles.

Service the Trans at 25k miles with a pan drain and refill.

If you choose to use synthetic for any of it let me know if I can help with Amsoil products. :gearjamin

Did first at 1000 mi. Greased just to make sure all were full. I rotate at 4-5000 so while wheel is off it makes access to ball joint and tie rods easier. Don't miss the two on the idler arm- the top one is hard to see with the splash shield on. I have seen a lot of miles out of these suspensions with out issue. Good luck hope you enjoy your truck..

Nine fittings- they don't have inner tie rod fittings on 11s...
