261ld come in 1500 gas trucks with 27 spline, 261hd come in 2500 6.0 gas trucks with 32 spline, 261xhd come in 2500 3500 6.6 duramax with 29 spline

awesome good to know. so would one from a 2004 8.1 with Allison tranny bolt up to a ZF6

yes it will easily bolt up if your ZF6 is already set up for a transfer case, if not then you just have to change the output shaft, also it depends on if you want floor shift or electronic shift.... 261 series are floor shift (manually) and the 263 series are electric shift (push button), 263's also come in the 263ld, 263hd, and 263xhd

Yea I knew the difference between the 261/263. Jus wast sure about the three different versions of the 261s. But def gonna have to get the xhd case. Thanks for the info.

Ok guys I'm sure it has been answered but I'm knew to working on my transfer case situation........
2006 chevy silverado 2500hd
6.0 4l80e NP263HD transfer case
What is the difference between 263hd and 263xhd??

I have an '02 2500hd with a 263hd transfer case that has gone out. Can I switch my truck over to the 261hd transfer case and what all would I need to change for it to work since the 261hd has a floor shift and mine is push button.
