To be honest I do t trust parts from Amazon. I have had a few things that I believe were cheap knockoff products so when it comes to my truck I don’t want that risk. So where do you all order stuff like ATF fluid, oil, filters, etc....

I have bought from Sumit and Dmax store...anyplace else you guys buy from?

I need to get some ATF (mobile delvac) and filter this week. Just curious

I source the Delvac at various local truck shops, Kenworth and the like. Most have moved to Delvac since the Transynd cases are gold plated now.

Trans filters, again a local Allison dealer truck shop. They'll have the spin-on, but they have to order the pan filter, since they only stock parts for Medium/Heavy Duty trucks, and those have a deep pan and deep pan filter.

Engine oil and other lubricants, once again local Schaeffer's Dealer.
Mob-1 filter from any Wally's you pass by, they all stock the M1-303a.

Hard parts, 1st go to is always Forum Vendor Rock.
Baldwin fuel filters I've been sourcing from Zoro.

I buy stuff on EBay always have research the seller. Like my FASS, was going to buy off ebay but if you order it from there they have to sell it at the list price to get a warranty and you have to make sure the seller is a actual dealer. So what I did was pay full price and get a discount on other merchandise Merchant does have a ebay account and sells stuff, that where I buy my filters and fluid for transmission service.
Like maybe a free Filter delete. Just got to know your seller!

Ive used amazon for quite a bit of filters and fluids. Thats the only place i can get the engine oil i run for my race truck at a reasonable price. But merchant automotive has good prices, as does dirty hooker diesel

Watch out on Amazon for Allison filters. I ordered a filter and a magnet once (few years ago) and the filter was smaller then the Allison filter I had and the magnet was maybe half the thickness of the original one I had. Needless to say I went to the shop and bought new ones that I know were original. That’s just 1 time I got crap from amazon

I like Amsoil as well, used to have my son as a dealer. I use it in my motorcycle and car, last oil change on the truck was a spur though so it got regular 15-40. The Amsoil I will say is just the best of all the synthetics in my honest opinion. Does anyone have a opinion on the Amsoil Torque drive fluid in a Allison?

I order parts pretty frequently from Amazon. I have never had an issue. You just have to research the seller and make sure you’re getting it from a reputable distributor.

If you want to go another route, merchant automotive and summit are a few good places that come to mind.

For Delvac TES-295 ATF, Summit has a good deal for 4 gallons (to get free shipping).

I've used Amazon for a lot of parts and only had a problem once, for a Toyota O2 sensor. I got an open package that someone had returned. Only the a-hole returned a new $50 sensor rear sensor in the $100 front sensor box. Obviously, Amazon didn't know the difference since the sensors were very similar. But the return and credit was easy.

TES-295 fluid I get from Summit and oil I get from Walmart. Everything else I get from Rock Auto or site sponsors.

Merchant Automotive has been VERY good to me over the years. Seems like they always throw in some free swag with the larger orders!

Here is another Amazon related data point. I recently bought what the parts books label as an engine shield. In this case it is the plastic shield that bolts in underneath the forward section of the engine bay. I guess it protects from crap getting blown up onto the front of the engine from the road surface. Anyway, the shield came with the GMC stickers for part number, inventory control and related stuff. I would guess that the thickness of the plastic was about 60% of the broken part I took off the truck. Not Amazon's fault. I would assume that GMC spec for that part has changed to a thinner material.

T-6 Rotella or Mobil 1 from Wally, filters from Beeline in Odessa Tx, ATF 295 from Summit, sometimes AC Delco TP3018 fuel filter from Amazon, hard parts from Rock or the Irish.

Not only do you have to deal with sellers that are wholesalers, then you have to hope they dont use FEDEX. Something tells me my running boards are not going to make it today. They been sitting 300miles away for 3 days now. If you ship plant seeds via Fedex they would be grown and dead before delivery.

Locally Fedex is a royal joke, and a death blow to any dreams of receiving your delivery on time. I have seen deliveries take 4-6 days after they arrived in the metro area.
