Isuzu will continue to stick with GM for the production of Duramax, a joint venture in Ohio under the name of DMAX Ltd. GM/Isuzu both have stake in DMAX Ltd. There were false reports that Isuzu requested GM to pull out of DMAX, however both companies denied any such action. Duramax today is described as "Strong, efficient, refined engine was miles ahead of the Navistar/Ford engine and Cummins/Dodge engine". What may cause some confusion is that Isuzu announced it has hooked up with Toyota to develop diesels for Toyota cars. That is also good for GM.
Ford will continue to use engines made in Mexico by Navistar International Corp. (Iternational Trucks) under the joint venture called Blue Diamond Truck Company.
Sidenote: There is or will be a recal of 32K up to 38K Ford trucks because they are having problems with the Ford exhaust gas recirculation which are shooting two foot flames out the exaust at hwy speeds. Real neat sight at night!!! The new Duramax LMM gasses reportedly hit 1400 degrees and somewhere close to 500 degrees at the tailpipe.
Dodge/Commins will continue as before. The 2007 Dodge 2500/3500 6.7 engine is to be one of their cleanest engines (BLUETEC) Diamler trade name, however Diamler is trying to sell Chrysler. GM did look at the deal to purchase Chrysler, however that just died out. Latest word is that a part manufacturing consortium is looking at Chrysler, but they may not have enough cash. If Diamler drops Chrysler, who knows what will happen to Chrysler products.
Hope this helps.
