Why some insurance companies are not covering 2500 and 3500 truck? Trucks getting to heavy?

So my auto insurance is ready to renew soon and tonight I started to shop around for different quotes. Since my insurance is going up $700 plus.. For another year. My record is spotless the past 10 years. And looks like I filed a claim 7 years ago for getting a replacement windshield done. I am trying to insurance my truck 2021 3500 and two old Volvos. (Agreed value on the cars)

A few insurance companies I tried seem to be getting selected on what they want to insure these day. Two companies don't have 3500 listed or 2500 listed. Only 1500s.
Another company came back and said the truck is over their weight class for what they insure. Anyone else having problems or heard about them, with insurance companies recently?

Once the GVWR is over 10,000 lbs on some vehicles and some insurance companies it can get weird. Sometimes I get insurance companies that look at the mfg weight, some look at the plate weight. My current company didn't bat an eye at my new dually, but it's a fight to get my cutaway insured right (they seem to think it's rated for over 26,000 lbs). I truly hate insurance companies.

No problems here but my heavys have farm tags so that's likely a different animal. They even insure my Class 8's, no questions asked. But it certainly won't surprise me if the day comes that they stop insuring heavy trucks. It's probably just a matter of time. When the day comes that I have to start insuring all the heavys with the big commercial truck insurance companies, I'll have to thin the herd. Rates at those companies are nothing short of painful.

Jason welcome back stranger.....

As we are both in FL, could the issue be that the truck is not tagged properly for the weight to be hauled?

IIRC, you can tag the truck based on anticipated weight. Maybe the tag and the insurance company inquiries aren't matching? Who knows.

The is all assuming commercial application, should not apply for personal use.

Hope this helps.

My insurance company wants 400 more a month. I just purchased my 2021 gmc 2500 denali with 48k miles and told insurance agent to add it to my policy. It's 400 more a fckn month. They've lost their damn minds. I'm 46 years old with no tickets and no wrecks. My wife got a new car 6 months ago and it went up 200 a month now mine makes it an extra 400 a month. Paying 1k a month for 4 vehicles with no wrecks and only 2 new vehicles. It's absurd.

My neighbor just got a 25% increase on his vehicle from State Farm. They told him if he installed a data monitor on his vehicle that the increase would most likely be nil. The rates in Florida are high due to all of the insurance fraud in Miami and Ft Lauderdale area, It seems that our representatives are afraid of the the insurance companies cutting back on campaign contributions.
