Where there is a will there is a way, but for me it must look and perform exactly as the OEM.
Agreed, I'll be trying to get the airbox to be just like it should... we'll see how it gets there, the hood is easy, airbox is the hard part.

I looked on here and didn't see this (I think it is a new produce by them?) '17 air box by S&B. If I get a '17 hood for my '16 I think I will just buy this and modify the tube that goes into it so it will mate with my original '16 routing.

Looked into that idea , won't work with out much more moding than worth or will look right, I have a rubber boot on back order but will use the factory piece to fit onto the 15/16 air box lid. The 17/18 air box is just way too different to work, factory or aftermarket SB or AFE

What rubber boot did you order? Do you have a part #?

8405 5693 This part is on National back order , you can get the entire air box but then you got $200 worth of plastic just to throw away most of it to get a $30 seal

the 2017 box is extremely difficult to fit in a 2015. it would take many hours

Thanks carhauler. I am doing the hood conversion as I found a new 2018 hood white with some hail damage that I am getting fixed. But I got the hood for 200 bucks so figured it is a hell of a deal can’t pass up.

Ya it is definitely nothing major for 200 bucks and maybe 200-300 to fix and all good to go for about 500 bucks. I am just going to go for the cosmetic look for now and maybe later once i delete truck I will make the hood scoop functional.

Is there an difference between a 2017 and 2018 hood?
Nope there sure is not a difference. My buddy has a 2018 Chevy and it is same as my 2016.

I think he meant 17-18 same, 16 was pre hood scoop unless its a gas truck then 15 thru 18 are the same fit wise but have some subtle differences in trim.

So I'm looking at the diagrams for the 16 airbox and the 17 airbox...The bottom of the box looks quite similar. Has anyone tried to just switch that out or does the top piece of the 16 not mate with the 17 bottom portion?
