Good afternoon, I need to know what type of oil I have to use for my GMC to change it myself at home. I asked the dealer but they did not want to give me the information, they told me that I had to change all the fluids, the engine, the transmission and the differential and the cost exceeded $ 800 dollars, and in reality I only want to change the engine oil for the moment, thanks for your help.At the moment it is barely 42,000 miles.

The important part is to ensure that it is diesel oil as spec'd in the manual. (in the diesel supplement)

15W-40 is the recommended viscosity.
Engine oils with the letters CJ-4 or CK-4 are required for your vehicle.
The CJ-4 or CK-4 designation can appear either alone or in combination
with other American Petroleum Institute (API) designations, such as
API CJ-4/SL. These letters show API levels of quality.

Matters not whether conventiional, semi-synthetic or full synthetic is used, as long as it meets CJ-4/CK4 specs.

Just don't use oils for a gasoline engine. They contain additives that will be harmful to the SCR/DPF in the exhaust system.
