Just got 2024 Denali Ultimate Duramax 2500 and the steering seems to have a pulsating/vibration. Didn’t have that on 2020 at4 3500 I traded. It has 500 miles.

I poked around under hood and 2nd alternator and steering reservoir seemed to shake a bit, but not sure that’s it. Can feel in wheel at idle and when driving and turning both directions

Any ideas before I take to dealer later in week? I like to point them in a direction before I get the “can’t reproduce” note .

My 24’ HD Denali Ultimate 3500 had/has the same thing. Comes and goes. Was real bad when I first bought it lessoned and I put more miles on it. Have 13k on it now. Ive come to the conclusion its the Goodyears and possibly Tranny learning or needs a re program possibly?
took it to the dealer early on like you and naturally they said its normal, couldn't replicate🤷🏻‍♂️

If it shakes at idle, it's not tires. Depending on severity, the powertrain mounts may need to be neutralized ( loosened and retorqued)

 

Thank you @Mtu Alum - Is there other areas I can suggest to tech? The steering wheel vibrates consistently at idle and through driving.

 

Do you feel the floor shaking as well? Dealer techs have a tool called pico scope that attaches to seat track. The order of the vibration tells the dealer tech what component to look at.

Potentially you could look for ground out on the steering hoses.

 

It seems like just steering - sorted pulses turning left and right too.

Sounds like your issue is easily duplicated and constant. I would call your dealer and make an appointment - nothing here will be an easy fix.

 

Look for a phone app called "NVH". Amazing tool. I've had it for several years. I think the price is now down to $100 or so.

Here is latest:

- Took in to dealer. Got master tech. He was great. Drove truck. Immediately noticed alignment was off. Took care of it under warranty since only 400 mi. Drove better - less fighting wheel, but buzziness still there. He said I feel it to, but don’t know where to go with it. We drove an identical truck and vibrations and buzziness there, so I accepted it and went home.

- Put in rancho steering stabilizer and greased all fittings. Same I had on 2020. Helped tightened up bit.

Today I took out the AHS fuse #61 and vibration went mostly away and steering wheel turns smoother and easier. I put back in and steering vibration returns. I looked at diff in parts for 2024 and looks like just lines are diff for some reason.

Thoughts? Is this normal feeling with AHS or PS pump or computer issue? Want some thoughts from others before taking back.

You need to have the tires road force balanced. Pulling the fuse makes the steering less sensitive to road wheel imbalance.

I also put on KO2s that are road forced smoother than GYs. I also put on king 2.5s. I know this changes some things, but the truck drives better actually.

Could the computer need reset or pump issue? Saw somewhere parameters can be changed.

There are offsets you can clear in the steering system. Requires GM serial data tool to clear.

 

TY - Can my local shop try or is it a dealer visit since 2024?
