@Snipesy ,
So...my interest is perked, tell me more about this Gretio setup? I would need a Bluetooth OBD reader, right? My backup to my iDash is a Bluedriver, would that work?
Elm327s work with Gretio with some restrictions.

The Bluedriver is an elm327 but it’s hidden behind some sorta top level API. Same story with the PLX devices. It would take time to fix that issue and honestly there’s no guruantee they would work after I fix it. So I probably won’t be supporting it.

This is a cheap one that ‘works’

I say ‘works’ because these are trash. You can get weird issues. In addition, they lack the safety 🔥 features that OBDLINKs have. Having said that if money is tight returning is always an option if you get one that doesn’t work. QA on these is iffy so just cause mine works doesn’t mean others will.

So the OBDLink MX+ is the "preferred" unit for communications then?

I really like the idea of a flat $20 fee for the app, that way its not something that I would need to continue paying for, and find that it locks on me while out on the road somewhere with no internet service, because that's how my luck is! LOL!

Not sure if its possible with the OBDLink dongles, but would it be possible to write to the ecm/bcm through your app in the future? Stuff like TPMS settings and other minor items would be fantastic to have!

The elms can’t see the BCM due to performance issues (if I expand the address space that far, they crash).
Any Bluetooth obdlink should work. So LX, MX, and MX+. The MX versions have SWCAN and this is the only way to access things like the IRSDM/ airbag module. HVAC is also on the SWCAN (for enabling afterblow).

There is also a cheaper version known as vLinker MC+. This is a ‘obdlink’ clone, but it doesn’t work. And I’m hoping to figure out why sometime this month (and hopefully fix it).

I’ve been working on TPMS reconfiguring. This should ‘in theory’ change the DIC warning level.
I haven’t added it yet cause the field for it has them all listed one after the other. And Gretio simply supports 1 parameter per control. So I need to make it allow multiple params at a time. Beyond this, it’s a simple BCM command.

Dude...gold mine, just saying...

So I'm not too concerned with cost, I was just wondering if I could reuse what I already have. Looks like I'll buy the MX+ then.

Do you have any documentation on what you support at this time for the L5P?

I should make a program that just generates lists like these. A lot of people ask for it.

In terms of controls….Emission wise you should be good to go. So regens, resets, test, heater control, HCI Regen. You also get injector control for diagnosing bad injectors. Couple of engine related things, idle, VGT, egr, etc…

In terms of PIDs. A lot.

You obviously are not gonna have everything. I have to do it all manually and that would take too long. A lot of controls are useless. But I get the ones I think are important. If one you need is missing or not working correctly…. Just message me. Usually it’s just a matter of cross referencing to the correct control. There’s about 1,000 control functions spread across all vehicles Gretio supports Like 5,000 PIDs. On average most vehicles support somewhere between 700 to 1,400 of those. I’d have to look at where the L5P is but it’s in that range. When you start the app it determines which PIDs to use by using a mix of existing data and brute force.

Thanks for checking in here man. Nice to see.

Yea, my main concern would be any of the emissions tests or injector ones. Very cool.

Awesome!
Can it do mobile and stationary regens on the LP5?
thanks

Yes. At least 2016 to 2021. I have yet to add 2022 VINs which is actually annoying. In addition GM is migrating to UDS over DoIP&CANFD soon. Im not sure when that’s happening but Gretio is going to need to change a lot when it does.

If you command a “Normal Regen”… There seems to be a lot of time components in the Regen algorithims. And it can lead to an excessively long Regen time.

Having said that, if it’s already close to Regen then it doesn’t really matter.
