Found a 5th wheel toyhauler but not sure if I can safely tow it. Biggest concern is the pin weight of 2100lbs. I have a 2500 crew cab 4/4 short bed with the Duramax Diesel.

2100#'s thats a big toyhauler,,,,nice:cool:,,, go get 42 bags of feed and thats what its gonna look like, alot of these guys love the airbag sytem and for someone running a trailer just off and on you let the air back out and have that nice 2500hd ride, my truck has a trailer w/8000 or more 80% of its miles so i went w/springs but empty is rough

I'm pulling a 37' New Vision Sportster. With full water (110 gal), fuel, 2 quads, etc, etc I figure I've got 16Kplus behind my '04 2500HD 4x4 SB CC, and a DRY pin weight of approx 3000lbs. The truck is stock except for Ride Rite bags (I run them at about 70, 75psi) and have no probs. As Maxxflip says, the quads take weight off the pin and the trailer actually pulls better with the quads loaded. The empty weight of my trailer is 13500lbs, so you should have no issues with the Keystone.

I pull a 37 ft weekend warrior 5th wheel with a pin weight of 2300 lbs. I use hellwig airbags with 80llbs of air and it sits dead even. Real comfortable ride.

I pull a 38' Weekend Warrior with a loaded pin weight of 3433 lbs. Went with Firestone air springs and the 265 series tires. Gross trailer weight loaded with only about 50 gallons of water is 15483 lbs on the local scale. Haven't had any problems so far. My truck is a 2004 LB7 2500HD crewcab long bed.

here is an example of some of the stuff i pull everyday. my red enclosed 27 footer is a pretty easy pull. you can get a little tonque heavy some days though. its a 8000GVW trailer. the second is a goose neck i pull alot. its a 20,000 GVW trailer and it there alot. put a 12,000 lb skid steer on there and a few attachments and it 18,000. i pull that alot. firestone airbags are the key. o the tractor burnt in the barn fire we had at your ranch 3 weeks ago. 72 by 120 by 16 building, 240 bails, and the tractor burnt up.

If you're inclined to stay legal and under warranty, and all that good stuff, 2100-2200 on the pin should be ok.
Consider with that pin weight, truck full of fuel, some junk in the cab and the box, the Lady, the dog, and some lunch the gross vehicle weight of the truck with the trailer hooked may be over the door sticker of 9200 lbs. Adding the toys will help balance weight off the truck.
Then consider that I think GM says a gross combination weight rating of the 2500HD truck and trailer is 22,000 for a fifth wheeler, you only have a trailer weight of 12,800 for warranty and some highway traffic act or state statutes.
Also look at the gross weight sticker for the trailer. In this case shouldn't be much over the 12,800.
Check your insurance about running illegal....
Many of us do the over bit, but we drive according to the vehicle as well as the condition of the road.

Yep

Posting from experience with a 2500HD. I say you are fine with that trailer. Get air bags for sure and a 18K Super Glide hitch.
I pulled a Fuzion 362 back from South Dakota to N.Cali in my 2500, I dont recommend that trailer for a 2500. Its 2800 on the pin and 12500 lb dry. I did a ton of research on hauling that trailer with a 2500HD. Most guys I spoke to had heavier trailers and they supposly had no issues. Well I am here to tell ya I had some issues. I got plenty familiar hauling that trailer back and I am here to tell you no way. Trailer was to much for that truck. Power wise the truck did good but frame wise no way. That trailer had its way with that truck on the road. It jerked like crazy not to mention the 7 mpg hauling it back from S.Dakota. So I bought a GMC dually. Let me tell you it was a nite and day difference. The dually platform is so much more stable than a SRW truck. So in my opinion you will be fine with that trailer. I think you will be right at the limits of that truck, but do able.

its not the frames that make the difference. the 2500hd and 3500 frame is the exact same. the different is the extra wheels. dually are wider making them more stable. have 2 more tires making the GVW weight higher because those 2 tires can hold another 6500lbs. also the biggest thing a dually has over a single wheel is stopping power. those extra wheels make stoping much easier. if i was pulling anything bigger then i was id get one. bad thing is they are not nice to park sometimes and they dont do well in snow storms around here (cant keep 4 tires in a 2 tire show track). i alsomost bought a 05 dualy actually but got the 03 instead.
really the biggest thing is jsut knowing how to drive. you may think this is funny coming from a 19 year old kid but i bet ive pulled more miles then 90% of the people on this site. i drvie aobut 65,000 miles a year and 45,000 of those are trailer miles. been driving like that sense 15 when i had my permit. understanding how to accel, slowdown, corner, backup, use more following distance, and just driving focus is the largest part of ever towing a trailer.

only the dually has the bigger brakes. it has larger rims is why. you can also get higher rated tires because of the larger rims. less sidewall.

From what I can see when you compare the specs on a 2500 vs 3500, they both tow about the same weight but the 3500 with dwr has a 1500lb larger payload than the 2wd 2500. I have always been told that rear end stability is the biggest plus for the 3500 dwr.

yep stability, braking power, and more GVW because of 2 more tires being able to hold weight.

The book mention pin weight at 3000# max.
