I am new here, but I have a dilemma. This post may need to be moved, my apoligizies if thats the case
Im in the process of gettin a new rig. My options are narrowed down to the 2010 6.2 Sierra SLT CC 1500 4x4 with Max Trailering Pack or a 2010 2500 CC 4x4 SLT with the 6.6.
Ive been all over the internet searching for answers but there hasnt been a clear winner so far.
My driving will be 65/35% city empty, but almost all highway when towing a either 25' Cobalt Boat or a 2001 Sierra trail rig. Both weigh about 7k with gear/gas/etc. However, I wont tow over 500 miles one-way usually.
The 6.2 gets EPA 13 city, 18-19 hwy. While the 6.6 results are all acorss the board.
Theres a .60-.70 cent diference in a gallon of reg. unleaded and diesel here in town.
Exhaust and intake would be added to 1500 at most with leveling kit and 33s while the diesel would get some sort of tuner, EGR block-off plate, and exhaust ( i guess..?) along with 33's-35's.
What to do? I like the idea of the diesel, but I would have to drop another 3k on performance parts to get the MPG suitable for the price difference in gas.
If I went with the diesel, what tuner is best turbo back straight pipe? Quad Stealth sounds good along with PPE. EFI sounds complicated and tricky.
Also, would a muffler with no cat or DPF give it a deeper, mellow tone? If so, what would you go with?
