8" and up lmm lift kit comparison. CST vs Cognito vs Fabtech

Hello all, I've read several post through the forums comparing one to another but not with these three compared to each other. I need to get my lmm cc/lb up to make it look shorter and want to go with around an 8-9" lift with 37's. I know there's bigger kits but to be honest there out if my price range. Which brings me to my question, is the cst6-8 or cognito 7-9 really worth the extra money over the fabtech 8? Please let me know what your opinions and experiences are. TIA

Thanks for the reply and pics, those are some awesome looking trucks. I know those who have cognito love cognito and its easy to see why by those pics  As for the looking shorter that's my po and I think the wheels should be proportionate to the bed so with a long bed they have to be big. Thanks again.

Hey buildingup what size kit is on the black truck? Id really like to see a 7-9 truck side by side with a 10-12 truck. Thanks for the pics.

Damn that was some quick replies. Thanks all for the pic references. Buildingup as for the original post I know you said its hard to compare cog and cst but between yours and the black truck how would you compare driving, towing and if you were present install? Thanks.

Hey all, Buildingup I have a quick question for you or toomanyprojects. I know you have commented before on the difference in your cognito and his cst, but I was hoping you could elaborate a little bit more. I am in the middle of the ELF mod and found a CS 9-11 for a good price. I know the difference between bracket and spindle kits, but when I was searching for opinions I am getting a lot more hear say then experience. Mike seems to run his truck pretty hard, does he have a lot of problems with it? I swore I would hold out for a cognito 10-12 but they are hard to come by used so I figured it was worth getting an opinion before passing up on this CST. Thanks in adcance.

Thanks for the reply and taking the time to answer all my questions I really appreciate it. :drink I decided to pull the trigger on the CST due to the options it has for the price. (Dual shock hoops, with bilsteins w/ res's, cst uca's with uniballs) I hope going from my Fabtech to the CST ins't going to be to crazy. I am swapping my lift onto my brothers truck, but he is going to turn it all the way down so at least we can just swap front diffs. Yeah, I plan on running 37's with the same 20x12s I have now. I just want no rubbing and to not be dwarfed by stock suspension super dutys on 37s. GrrRRrr I will probably shoot for 9.5 to 10" depending on how the cv's look. Do you know what brake lines and rear springs I should pick up? I was thinking 8" deavers. Thoughts?

Sounds good man. I know I could just search it, but does the deavers ride smoother then stock?

Just for the record, if anyone reading this thread wants a Cognito 7-9", I've got one for sale :thumb

:poke[1]:
That's really funny because you bought that lift from my brother. He told me it was really clean and I should just buy that since we are in Houston and down for a drive.

Hard to say with the 8" fabtech since in reality its a glorified 6" lift with cranking to get to 8". 6" deavers would match to the front 8" lift but over time they will sag a little and you'll have to throw in a block. I had issues with drive line vib in the rear when I would load up the bed and had to play with the carrier bearing drop. Still have a little vib if I don't have my airbags pumped up to accommodate the weight I would throw on the back.
Dont mean to be that guy and I know you have personally owned a Fabtech lift, but are you sure about it not being a true 8" kit? I only ask because I heard people saying that about the 6" so I measured it prior to install. The 6" kit did if fact drop the front diff a full 6". It was actually like 6 1/4" I know there are several kits that are advertised as a 6" but truly a 4, but I do not believe Fabtech is one.
