I am sure this has been asked before but there is nothing recent showing up in the search function:

I will be needing to insure my 2007 Kodiak (Monroe-ish Clone). My current carriers do not offer coverage. I would like to find coverage for my Daily 2007 c1500, 2022 Kawasaki KLR650, 2016 Smart Car, and the Kodiak. Currently I have 3 different carriers for 3 different vehicles as they do not offer a policy to cover all my vehicles. LAME! none of my current carriers offer coverage for the Kodiak as it is considered commercial.

who are any of you guys going with for coverage and how do you like them? what kind of rates are you paying?

I am currently located in California but will be registering the truck in South Dakota as a full time RV'er.

Looking for any pointers or any info anyone can offer. Thanks in advance.

Progressive. I have the 4500 and 8!horse trailer with them. $1600 per year

That seems like a pretty high rate!? is this just public liability and public damage? or is this full coverage to include replacement value?

is this about the same premium everyone is paying? I am used to paying what i assume is a typical 'car insurance' but i was considering doing full coverage. but WOW that seems high?

thanks to everyone who replied. this is good info.

Beat me to it, Progressive. I will add that you might be in a category of "commercial vehicle used for personal vehicle" , then once it is converted it apparently then qualifies for (in your case) "full time RV insurance"

Farm Bureau covers me up to and including Class 8's. The rates for liability on heavy trucks have been unbeatable but took a jump in recent years. Still haven't found anyone that can touch them though.

I'm going to say without looking that my liability would be about $200-250 a year plus any damage coverage (comp and collision) you elect to add.

I'd have to have my wife check on it to get my exact rates.

The $1600 is full coverage on both vehicles +roadside and towing. Wife hauling race horses back and forth from Texas to Kentucky and Florida and all over Texas

That seems really high. MY 2014F560 is under $300/yr full coverage+ roadside+umbrella and our livestock trailer is 90/yr full coverage 500 deductible.

100k/300k liability only:
1988 R30 $191 annually
2004 F550 Flatbed $63
1975 Chevy Titan (class 8) $113

100k/300k liability plus $75k damage coverage:
2022 Ram 3500 Flatbed $992

All amounts are annual rates. Farm Bureau has always had a big discount for flatbeds. Not too many years ago it was $48. I could put a flatbed on the R30 and it's rate would be $63 as well. The Titan would qualify with a flatbed too but it's a grain truck.

My rate with Progressive just jumped from $771/yr to $1450/ yr. No tickets or accidents or claims.

I don’t drive mine that much and as I am semi retired, I am a bit miffed about the price increase.
Mine is a 2003 C4500 with a flatbed.

And this price doesn’t include towing.
Better look at Farm Bureau!

can someone explain farm bureau please? i looked locally for farm bureau and couldnt find didly. I am located in CA but i will be registering my truck in Montana. Montana will require state coverage for the truck registration and title. but i will be doing the full time RV thing for a while, cutting across the lower half the of the lower 48 from california to florida. I would like to find a company that is not stupid expensive. BigBrownDog, thats too expensive. i called progressive and all they could offer was commercial ins. for my C5500 at almost 2k a year. the other companies i have delt with in the past in cali will not cover my truck. but since i am leaving this stupid state i need to find some company that will covery me in my travels and still qualify for the montana requirements.

thanks in advance.

Not much to explain, Farm Bureau is just another insurance company. They're probably not as big as some of the other big names that are nationwide. You can get on their website and search for an agent by zip code. I did a quick search and they're in Montana but don't appear to service California.

Although it seems it was initially geared toward farmers, anyone can buy insurance there. I had my first car insured with them when I was 16 and I was just a kid in town. Now my FB agent handles everything for me - home, auto, health, farm plan, crop insurance and I used to have some life insurance with them too. One little thing to keep in mind, you have to be a member to use them. Last I knew annual due was $50.

I've had very good luck with claims, in fact I'm currently right in the middle of a hail claim on one car and my home roof. But your results may vary by area and adjuster(s).

I used Progressive when I had the car hauling business that included coverage (stated value) for the cars. Their rates were be best that I could find at the time. What I really liked about them is when I was towing high $$ cars, I could increase the coverage for that load/time frame.

As others have stated, you will most likely be stuck with only getting commercial coverage.
