Joker... yes some of my concern as well, just how effective is the scoop. From what I've read the scoop provides that cooler dense air, but it would seem like it's sucking thru a straw for that...
Nailed it buddy. As long as you stay far away from snow, sand/gravel and pooling water, life is good. But if you really need that bumper, I bet you encounter at least one of those every now and then. You be the judge and report back on how it performs. :thumb

Also, if you need that bumper, the scoop won't be there for long. :p

My crud mock up pics of the refab I plan on doing with bracket system...

Joker... yes sir I do need that bumper, it's to push blue hair ladies outta my way, haha, but seriously yes it's functional for somethings out on the ranch. I'm gonna give things a shot and raise it up as far as I can to protect it... time will tell and I'll report back for sure, thanks for your input, much appreciated!

Full shot of the bumper for ya j/1985...

be hip and cool. section the scoop at an angle, to match the angle of the bumper

BAM! DONE!

unless thats weird :rofl

just spitballing

or section it so its shorter, run a tube to the front of the bumper where the mesh is, and have it drawing direct air from there, feeding the scoop :)

just spitballing some more :rofl

Nope, those ideas have promise... I like the angle idea the best, tho if I could figure out a way to tube things together up to the mesh section I'd do that... but that angle idea has some real promise!

also when you build the tube, make it to where you can thread a plug on the end (like people do with pvc) so if you think your about to go through some high water it can be sealed :thumb ***not that water in the intake scoop will be your only concern with water that high :rofl

i know with my S&B Scoop it doesnt take away any air that the intake would have drawn without the scoop (it only adds), soooooo in theory if you plugged it, went through some high water you should be good right?!?!

i mean, i didnt plug up the existing area that air was coming in at in the box when i installed the scoop :thumb

In fact, I'm think'n if it was offset to match the angel of the bumper there would be less bottom surface of the scoop facing the ground that's at risk of hitting something...

mm007, the truck looks great. J-Dub's angle idea is in my top two suggestions. :p
thanks joker :)

i appreciate that ALOT, especially from you :thumb

I'm going to work on a mock up and post it here in a few, tho where would you suggest making the cut to create the angel that's needed, from the top?!? My scoop can in two pieces.

if anything, slice where its flat and box like, not where the angle and curve come into play for the bottom part

if you cut it flat (like at top)(or in the middle) you can easily have it back together with some thing gauge sheet metal and screws, or WHATEVER

make clean cuts,

hell by the time your done you might have this thing body works and base coat clear coated :thumb
