Blue smoke when high idle kicks on, only when cold.

Maybe someone on here can give me a couple ideas, when i start my truck from anywheres from +2C down to -40C and the the high idle kicks on, doesn't matter plugged in or not, it smokes a haze of blue and when high idle kicks out it doesn't anymore. When the truck is warm and let it idle and the high idle kicks on it doesn't smoke then. I had the injectors checked out by a stealership and a certified GM mechanic seperately and they both said they were good. I have S&B CAI and 4" turbo back strait back, and a diablo predator set on the tow tune. EGR is also blocked off.

I think it's just nature of the beast...mine also does it. Probably a combination of steam and the cold air outside that makes you think your truck is smoking. Heck most construction equipment will smoke all day long when it's really cold outside.

It has to do with dried out seals in your fuel system allowing weeping of fuel and the "BLUE" smoke is unburned fuel escaping through the exhaust. If you run a quality additive that does NOT contain alcohol you should see an improvement. Anyone that wants more info or verification about how the additives work can read the article about Brad Walthour of Sunbury, Ohio and how the additives from AMSOIL almost completely solved this same type of problem in his Dodge Dually. I use both the Diesel Concentrate, AND the Cetane Boost and my trucks NEVER smoke unless at WOT with the tuner turned up, and even then the smoke is a black haze, not blue or white.

the reason they do it more in cold weather is because like stated above, the cold temps cause the liquid molecules to freeze into crystals in the air and you can see them, kind of like how your breath will do the same thing.

white smoke = condensation burn off for the most part.

Blue Smoke = weeping injector seals, and or piston rings not sealing properly causing oil to leak past them into the combustion chamber so that you are burning your oil...

I use addative almost everytime in summer and winter time everytank cuz it gets like i said 40 below up here and don't want to get gelled up. I check the oil all the time on it and it stays the same level.

clears up once reaches operating temp? Its the ECM controlling fuel mixture until truck warms up.

I have only used my high idle a few times when it was new. 5,000 to 20,000 mile. It did the same thing. Since where I live it doesn't really get that cold I just don't use it.
