There is noting wrong with the torsion bars. The problem is with the factory drop stops. They are 1.5 inches tall. That limits the travel and causes the rough ride when you crank the keys up.

but what im wondering is, does teh cognito kit require cranking of the torsion bars to get its lift??? and if so, wouldnt that be just as much stress on the torsion bars themselves?

 

You normally just crank the stock ones. Which we all know would be bad to do. But if you run there UCA's with the stock keys cranked your up to the height you want, yet the UCA's are giving you more drop out to save your ride. As well as saving the camber (alignment) of your front tires from the tops being pulled in. The stock UCA's are not long enough to reach the height you want. So also wearing out your ball joints. They give you all that setup for the height you want. Also with press in joints which are longer lasting and much easier to change. So you get the height you want and not as much damage. Not a bad Idea to put there steering supports on for stronger steering and longevity. In the process myself right now of buying this all

 

You also get more raise depending on how the ball joints are mounted....from the top (stock height)...or from the bottom (for a raise). Cranking the torsions isnt bad on the bars so much as people just cranking them with stock length shocks and it kills the ride since you are out of the optimum travel of the shock.
