Driving on the interstate last week in heavy rain my 2024 Silverado 1500, threw a code for the EGR valve (verified by on-star and the dealer). I'm still not sure if it was a bad EGR or just an issue caused by the heavy rain on a sensor. Took it in for replacement of the EGR under warranty today and on the way home I caught a smell of anti-freeze. By the time I got home the dealer was closed so I wasn’t able to call and talk to service, but there was a noticeable smell of anti-freeze in the wheel well area, and on the driver side engine compartment with the hood open. I’m not sure where the EGR valve is, but would replacing the EGR have any effect on the coolant lines? Is there coolant lines to the EGR valve?

First diesel so I’m not 100% familiar with the location or design of the EGR.

Appreciate the graphic of the engine. Looks nothing like an older EGR from a gas engine. I have just over 2200 miles on the truck, 1500 of those were on a trip to Illinois and back to PA and never picked up a hint of anti-freeze smell, so it's definitely related. Hopefully it's just from changing out the EGR and coolant leaking out of the hoses.
