I wouldnt say it "solves" any issues, but it sure wont hurt anything..

 

I read that the stock filter is 10 microns and the GM test duramaxes had 2 micron filters and they never had any issues with injectors. I read that here. I am thinking of buying an LB7.

then you know that you'll need to get the injectors tested before you buy it, and if you own the truck for long enough, odds are that you'll have to replace them.

It has been said without any testing or proof that higher filtration will extend the life of the injectors.

Don't know if it's true or not.

There are companies that sell filtration kits or adapters to run better fuel filters in place of your stock filter.

Like Kevin said though, if you buy an LB7 you need to plan to replace your injectors sooner than other models. Injectors are a wear item and will need to be replaced eventually irrelevant what model you buy though.

 

Truck in the shop now, getting new injectors (directly from Bosch) and a replacement high pressure injector line (filled crankcase with fuel!) I'm also having them install an ADII to help ensure that the new injectors last for the remainder of the trucks life. I'm betting that clean, air free fuel will provide improved mileage, power, and injector life. I also include an additive at every fillup to help offset the effects of low sulpher fuel, and now the winter blend.

 

I am starting a thread now (been wanting to do it for a while) that will answer your question very very definitively including pictures. Come back later to see what I have to show! Short answer is yes it helps alot.

a secondary filter system, such as an airdog or fass is a great idea..

however, this will not stop the LB7 injectors from going bad, In my opinion.

 

I couldn't agree more. A filter will never fix a design flaw, but it can prevent premature failure due to debris blockage.

IF I'm replacing the original injectors at 147k miles, and IF a primary higher efficiency filter system/lift pump will give me another 150k miles before injector failure, then I'll be a happy camper!
I recently had them measured and two of them were at 2+, but one was at 4+ when I developed a leak that they traced to a HP injector line. As long as they had the top end apart to find the leak, I figured I might as well take advantage of the labor already being done to have the injectors replaced. New injectors. New filter system. Should be good to go for a very long time, if nothing else quits on me!

Still waiting on the evidence that the ADII (or similar) will extend the life of the system. (Not doubting, just anxious to read what you've discovered!!)

Will I meant stock injectors, I have had no replacements, 206,000 miles on the injectors that came in the truck. It only has the stock filter system in it. Just changed the fuel filter when ever the message center said too.
