Dose Edge chips leve a footprint in the trucks computer system that a dealer could see to void the Warrent?? Wife will not let me put one inmy 2016 3500HD. I had one in my old 2002 2500HD . on the test drive in the 2016 i could tell is was not as good as my old truck. We pull a 28" 5th wheel?? what about the one that just reads Exhust temp. tranny temp. Will that one leve a footprint

I had sent this to Edge.
I have a Edge Evolution CTS 85200 100-017-868. #'s on the box that's sit's on the dash X00002300, 200-028-213, 14610 ? That's whit i can read.
I heard that this chip can be Reprogram to fit a Chevy 2016 3500 HD. It was in a 2002 Chevy 2500 HD. If it can be reprogrammed to work in my 2016?

Or do you take triad in? What would the prices be for Reprogramming or treading in ?

Will the Insight CTS3 just monitor ? It will not change the tune

Thank You

Yes. The dealership can’t but GM can track the aftermarket engine calibration and if found, can void powertrain warranty.

Rod, the Edge tuners are, at the very least, good "monitors" of lots of good information. You'll have a much better feel of your truck, can run a number of diagnostics, read codes, etc - even if you never load a tune! You 'could' just leave the stock tune alone and still have the other benefits.
I put one on my truck at 50,000 miles and never tried to hide it from a dealer - and never heard a peep from those guys. Told them I used it just as way to monitor my truck. I've had my DEF system replaced (4) times, under warranty, without any issues. Granted, they created that mess, themselves, (at the insistence of the EPA, to be fair) and I didn't have much 'engine' work done. I now have 130,000 on my 2013, so am on my own. No warranty left. If I wasn't living in Phoenix, I would've ripped all that emissions crap off the first time I had a hiccup!

Tell ur wife and dealer it’s just a monitor, both look identical.
When mine was stock I had and still have a Westach EGT/Boost single analog gauge and eventually put the first gen edge insight on the top of my dash left side to monitor more stuff.
Of course the tech made a big deal, they always feel they can tell owners what to do, even though they didn’t invest any money in your truck.
The dealer service manager told the tech to go away and do his job working on vehicles, he didn’t care.

When I eventually deleted mine @ about 8k I just fixed small issues myself or went to a private shop for repairs having a extended warranty separate from GM.
GM can threaten cancelling your warranty but they can not cancel your bumper to bump warranty, only the drivetrain which would be affected only by the tuning.

I’ve had several other non drivetrain issues after my GM warranty ran out where my aftermarket warranty took over that my dealer had no problems repairing, the tech did whine because mines tuned but the manager once again told him to just worry about doing his repair jobs.

Edge Insight just monitors stuff, that’s what I have my tuning is EFI loaded thru the OBD2 port where the Insight monitors and Edge EVO monitors and tunes both plugs in the OBD2.
Unplug the Edge, plug in EFI AutoCal load tunes unplug AutoCal plug Edge back in, pretty simple.
You‘ll find after many years of being married, the less they know the easier your life will be.
Piss on the foot print threats, I did.

Mild tuning usually changes timing a little, big tuning timing and fuel, in most cases you’ll get better mileage with the bigger tunes, doesn’t make sense but fact.

I agree with this completely!
I run my Edge on the #3 "Performance" setting and I can get 16+ MPG easily (cruising at 70).
On the "Economy or Stock" setting it gets worse mileage.
And it runs VERY WELL!!!!!

Thanks for the power levels:
Juice with attitude:
Level 0: Stock
Level 1: 30 Horsepower - 60 Foot Pounds of Torque
Level 2: 40 Horsepower - 80 Foot Pounds of Torque
Level 3: 50 Horsepower - 90 Foot Pounds of Torque
Level 4: 60 Horsepower - 100 Foot Pounds of Torque
Level 5: 80 Horsepower - 130 Foot Pounds of Torque
Level 6: 100 Horsepower – 200 Foot Pounds of Torque
Level 6 being the hot unlock level
Are these stock trans safe at all levels? The manual reads like 4, 5, and 6 are to be used sparingly or at race events only. I see a lot of posts saying EFI live tunes are safe at 100hp but I don't think HP is the only factor here. I have been running my truck in level 3 but have heard from more than one person that level 6 is fine to run in all the time. (excluding towing)

I have only put mine into the highest "Extreme" mode once. It was nuts! Almost 40 pounds of boost (according to the CTS2) I tried it for maybe 15 minutes and then switched back to performance. I'd bet blowing the stock head gaskets wouldn't take too long at that setting! o_O

Level 1 and maybe level 2 for towing, any level above you’ll risk trans damage.
No matter what level you use it’s highly recommended to have at least a EGT gauge.
Boost above about 32 you’ll also risk possible engine damage.
Stock boost depending on what series runs anywhere between about 25-30, mine will easily hit 32 with my 40hp EFI towtune, stock was 27-28.
I have my CTS2 EGT alert set at 1250.

Yes, I run the Edge EGT. The whole monitor system is a trip to watch. I monitor EGT, Trans position/ TQ lock up, Fuel Rail Pressure; expected and actual, boost, injection timing and average MPG.
There's some interesting stuff going on under the hood.

FYI, if you read the fine print the claimed transmission safe tunes are only safe if you don’t drive like you’ve just stollen it.

so question what would happen if i have aftermarket intake and aftermarket trans with a 5 in exhaust and i run everything in extreme and hot tune i put everything in extreme and was wondering the power and long term how do yall do performance tunes what setting and what not 2003 dodge ram 2500 5.9 Cummins thanks yall

Second, this is a three year old thread.
Third, you do realize you're on a Duramax forum right?

I have one of the old CTS units with tunes in it and they have tunes for all 3 brands in them. I don't use it anymore. The tunes aren't very good. EGTs were really hard to keep down and it smoked like crazy. I don't want any smoke from my truck so EFI gave me the ability to get good clean tunes. I am willing to take less power for no smoke.

There always seems to be so much confusion regarding the names of Edge's Tuners...

This will attempt to explain and de-bunk some of the confusion out there. This is the link to their page.

1. Edge Juice With Attitude:
Image

This is generally considered not the greatest tuner for the LB7/LLY/LBZ engines because of some strange electrical issues that it can cause.
If you have this tuner, you CAN send it back to Edge and they will put new software on it that will fix any problems that it has.

2. Edge Juice With Attitude CS / CTS:
Image

This is the newer Juice version, CS is "Color Screen" / CTS stands for "Color Touch Screen" There is nothing wrong with this tuner, (they fixed the problems) the tuning is exactly the same as the old one... it will work just fine on your truck.

CS Part Number
P/N 21000 - LB7
P/N 21001 - 04.5 to 05 LLY
P/N 21002 - 06-07 LLY / LBZ
P/N 21003 - 07.5 + LMM

CTS Part Number
P/N 21100 - LB7
P/N 21101 - 04.5 to 05 LLY
P/N 21102 - 06-07 LLY / LBZ
P/N 21103 - 07.5 + LMM

3. Edge Evolution / Race:
Image

Basically this was the link between the Old Juice Chassis, and the new CS/CTS Chassis. It's black in color, and the "RACE Version" can Delete the DPF. It works great, just isn't as fancy as the new CS/CTS.
P/N - 25002 is for the LLY and LBZ
P/N - 25003 is for the LMM

4. Evolution CS:
Image

Just not as hopped up as the "RACE" version of the same tuner. Will not Delete DPF on LMM.
P/N 85100 , will work on LB7/LLY/LBZ/LMM

5. Evolution CTS: Same as #4, but with a touch screen. Will not Delete DPF on LMM.
P/N 85200, will work on LB7/LLY/LBZ/LMM

6. Insight CS/CTS:
Image

No tunes at all, only gauges / monitoring
P/N 83830 (CTS)
P/N 83730 (CS)
This will work on ANY vehicle from 1996 +.

7. Racing Evolution CS / CTS:
Image
Image

The DPF Delete, highest HP levels that you can get from Edge. Available in a CS or CTS Screen. Will Delete DPF on LMM.
P/N 85600 (CS)
P/N 85700 (CTS)

Hopefully this helps... If you're trying to get some troubleshooting help from us here on the forums, please be as detailed as possible with the correct name of which tuner you have.

Let me ask you something since you have numbers. Wouldnt someone towing be better off buying the Race version to tow with rather than the standard EVO. Then just have 3 settings stock or level 6? Not racing just to give you whatever power you need on steep hills? Thanks Im late to the game...
