Hello guys,

So I was searching the wonderful world of Craigslist and came upon a efi live auto cal for sale for $100. My question is are they transferable?? Now he claims there are no tunes on it now, if I buy the tune and set it to my VIN will it still work??

Thanks in advance,

Does he know who it came from originally?

The way he is wording it came out of his old 05 duramax, which I have an 05

No, the tunes currently on the Autocal will not work, you cannot set the tunes in Autocal to your truck as they are locked to the ECM serial number on the other truck, not wholly dependent on the VIN.

First you need to know who the original tuner is in order to un-link it and switch to your tuner of choice and have him link it to his V2. Of course if it is a tuner you like and have read about them on this or other sites you are good to go and need to purchase the license ($125.00) plus the cost of the tunes.

Go to EFI's website to learn more about the Autocal and V2 and what you can and cannot do, it will take some reading like I did before purchasing a used V2, go to the forum section and type in unlink.

Good luck

This guy knows what he is talking about. ^^ $100 is not a bad deal for a used autocal but you need to know who's v2 it is linked to like said.

Now I asked the guy he said he never uninstalls it from his truck before he sold it, will that make a difference? And generally how hard is it to uninstall the tunes from the auto cal? I don't want to end up spending more than what I would for a new one

Doesn't matter either way. You can delete tunes off an autocal with efi explorer in about 13 seconds.

As others have said you can use this. But you need to ask the seller what tuner it's linked to. If you do not want that tuner it needs sent in to be unlinked. Then you will need a vin license then the cost of the new tunes and the cost for a dsp switch. If you do not watch it could cost just as much as right from a tuner.

Originally tuned by Longhorn fab shop. Are there tunes any good and anyone know how much it costs to have it unlinked??

Garbage. He should unlink it for free, if he even knows how. Lol but then again, I'm sure he's done it thousands of times once people realize his tunes are shit and switch to someone worth a damn.
