A few months ago I started having some issues with my 2019 GMC Sierra 3500 6.6 work truck. I took it to the dealer for the recall on the fuel pump and they said I needed to replace the nox sens 1 so I did. Nothing has changed. The truck intermittently stalls and will not respond to the pedal while acting up. It happens sometimes at 5mph and generally happens around 30,50,60,70 etc. never really have a hill or increase in load when it happened either. The picture at 74mph was right before the picture at 69 mph when the truck was stalling. Have had some codes p228c and some other but I think the only one I currently have had is p228c. If I try to power through the stall I generally will get a reduced power limp mode message but hasn’t happened much. Changed the fuel filter twice since. I’m guessing it could be a bad fuel sensor but I think there is 3 maybe. Any advice greatly appreciated!

There are lots of opinions on the matter, but from a dealer technician, I have seen top notch techs in both dealer and independent shops. It all depends on the technician who ultimately works on the vehicle as to the level of expertise and service some one may get. It is not dependant on what type of shop the vehicle is taken to.

Regarding the fuel filter, have you ever lost prime and had to re-prime it? If so, then the CP4 could be sucking in air at times. Or, perhaps a leak in a fuel line. Keep in mind that unless you installed a lift pump that the fuel lines or under vacuum instead of pressure so a slight leak is generally not one that leaks fuel and instead allows for air to get sucked in which can be a bit intermittent in behaviour due to the fuel load and how much air is getting sucked in at any particular time. I would have to give more thought as this could be the issue but other fuel related issues could also be the cause.

So I was going to attempt to get to the fuel pressure regulator sensor 1 behind the throttle body and decided against it. Not certain my original words of stalling were most accurate. I believe a more accurate description would be misfire. I went ahead and cleaned the MAP sensor and added some def,oil and fuel treatment to the truck. Normally once the truck has been running for 10-15 minutes I’ll get the misfire periodically when feathering the throttle. I drove about 250 miles on it this weekend at different speeds and it didn’t happen once and no codes. I can’t imagine I fixed it but thought I’d share an update currently. Thanks again y’all
