Seems a little off. I guess its possible a previous owner had a tuner then sold it without removing the tune.

My cousin screwed up his 2003 and had to have the dealer reflash the ecm. Hopefully that isnt your only option.

 

You can have the stock tune flashed back in by the dealer. Not sure on the cost but They can do it.

 

Any guess on how much a dealer would charge

 

My dealer in SC charged me $130.


03 lb7 ppe boost valve 4" custom built exhaust EFI tuned by PPEI

 

My dealer charged $132 for about an hour and a half labor but that was a reflash and diagnosed a bad TCM and removed it. (Thought I just needed a reflash, I was told different)

I would guess if you can drive it there and thats truly all they do, an hours labor should cover it. Plus misc charges and tax of course.
