Thanks to a little hail damage, I just got mine painted body color and I did get to see it from a distance looking in the window at the body shop, if I say so my self it looks a 1000 times better than the black. When I get my truck back I will post some pictures of it.

 

Wont the sun shine on the chrome finish hood louver & the reflection shine in your face as you drive?
Id paint it to match your body paint color if anything.

 

I think I am going to return this... It didn't look like what I pictured and not sure if I like the fit. I did not install it and since it came from amazon I can return it no questions asked. It sticks up in the middle and not flush like the picture shows. Also has cut outs for allison dmax badge.

Personally I can't say I like the Putco cover compared to stock. I do like the idea of paint color matching and was considering doing this on my truck. ANyone else do this on a silver truck?

Trying to decide if the chrome hood ornament will look better on a red truck or a painted version. I actually would like to get the painted front bumper that is in the Z71 appearance package.

 

Does the plastic hood insert have a function? Or did GM just do it for styling? IMO they should have just left the entire hood metal or at a minimum paint it body color. I mean these are 60k trucks and they don't even give us an option to have it painted from the factory?!

 

No function, purely cosmetic

 

My vote is they should have left that as an option. I would perfer a full metal hood
