The only crap it removed is from the lines by on the drivers side to the filter... maybe 2 feet.... I wouldn't worry about it unless your filter was old or dirty already. I guess it could loosen stuff in the filter.....

I didn't change mine as I have 19k on the truck... filter probably 4k... in the future I will clean them before I change the filter.

Ordered a bottle, long time back, as several had some higher rates. Couldn't get the Supply quick connect to 'release', gave up and moved on, tackling at a later date perhaps.

Then I started running some 'up to' 20% bio and everything cleaned up on the rates after two tanks. I use it still when I can find it.
Call me 'Happy'. :grinn

My truck is much happier on 20% Bio as well. Hard to find here. All you seem to get in OR is 20% though.

I had that same problem, getting the supply line to release. The plastic tool seemed to not want to slide into the quick release fitting. I finally got frustrated and used a pair of channel locks and very gently squeezed the plastic tool into the fitting. I did it from the rear of then the front side of the line...............Voila,.......... it came apart easily and went back without any leaks when I was done.

PS, we get 20% bio here too. When Im away from home and get straight diesel, no bio, I notice a mileage decrease. And the bio is a better lubricant than even ArchOil.

I tried every conceivable plumbing tool to try and force enough release pressure on it, but they all slipped on the tube slant. My next step was to just bypass that connector and remove the inlet hose to the fuel filter head instead.

I could visualize the tool design for the leverage needed, but lacked time/effort to move beyond conception.
Perhaps I should revisit that idea....for a future retirement fund. They'd sell like hotcakes. :smile2:

Just did the cleaner last night.... test drove today and had some weird preignition knocking noises... got out of town and went up the big hill by the house. half way up i kicked it down and she shot to 3k and a huge puff of smagma smoke clouded the road (this truck never smokes) afterward i hot rodded it for a few more miles and came home. the blue smoke stopped and so did the weird knock... anyone else had this issue after cleaning? I got a trip tomorrow with the wife (first time with no kids! woo wooh!) and i dont want any hickups... any info on other peoples experiences are greatly appreciated.

I am under the impression that it was just pissed from idling for 2 hours and getting a little fouled or loaded up.... best guess...

thanks again

Maybe some air got trapped in it?

A smaller version of a valve spring compressor?

Possibly the remaining cleaner in the filter?
I noticed the knock/tick from the injectors and the whitish blue smoke, had me concerned then cleared up.

Last step in the cleaning process?

Change your fuel filter.

I changed mine first.... didn't want the cleaner to loosen up crud in the old filter.... made it over the pass just fine. No more weird noises. No more blue smoke. Still hazes though. Not as bad maybe.... Goin back over the pass tomorrow. We will see how it does.

A cleaning solution ran in a loop thru the filter, for several hours.
I'd change it after. Have a fresh start.

Running B10/B20, it's also a very good solvent, and will clean up the whole fuel system and in my case, settle down the inj balance rates (what this procedure is attempting to do).

But it doesn't 'loosen' any deposits in the filter, it just clogs one up prematurely.
I wouldn't think this cleaning mix would either.

I always change mine after, if the filters doing it's job it shouldn't let anything through but could get clogged during the process.

Hmm. Well I'm new to this diesel thing. Oh well. I guess I'll change it after a few K miles. Old filter was 8 years old.... this one still has to be better. I'll keep this info in mind for next time. Thanks everyone!

Whoa wait a sec. Do you mean your filter hasn't been changed in 8 years?

"....can't understand why the injectors need cleaning." haha:
