Does anyone know what it takes to put a VVT on an 02 LB7?

Is it even possible?

They have a standalone VVT controller so you can use an LLY and up turbo, or an aftermarket VVT turbo.

The ihi turbo is only a 62mm where the garret vgt is a 64mm. You can pick the garrets up for cheap. I find them for sale all the time for $400-$800 rebuilt or used. so depending on what the controller costs, it may be a budget turbo upgrade.

not aftermarket no but stock VS stock an vgt isn't worth switching to from an IHI not at all IMHO. if anything the other way around

I hadn't even considered performance issues. I was thinking about the braking capabilities. That's kinda cool.

You could just get a BD/Pac exhaust brake, and save some cash.

The controller is like $900, then you need to find a turbo "$4-800 as mentioned earlier"

BD exhaust brakes can be had for under $1k, compared to the $1300-$1700 to do the VVT route.:drink

^true dat ;)

but aso, it would not be automatic like turbo braking on the newer trucks...tere is now way to program it to come on under 0% throttle....well unless your crazy like ben or brayden
