LML Autocal Error Code Help

I recently purchased a PPEI autocal for my 2013 LML along with a new exhaust. When the autocal arrived I followed the instructions and attempted to do the "Full 1A Flash" option. When I pushed OK it went through the checking process and then instantly popped up error code $0531, which is documented as "Serial number in tune file does not match controller's serial number".

I first double checked the VIN that I entered when I purchased it and everything looked good so I contacted the dealer I purchased it from who walked me through it again to make sure and I got the same result. I sent him all the info on my truck and tuner which he passed on to EFI Live and is waiting to hear back from them. It has been over a week now and I still have not heard anything. I have tried removing all unnecessary fuses and turned off my phone (to keep bluetooth from connecting), in an attempt to eliminate any interference but have not had any luck.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar problem or maybe has insight on what else I could try. Hopefully I will hear back soon but since I have already installed the new exhaust I only have 100 miles to drive before it limits me to 65mph. I would like to keep the dealer anonymous as I am not trying to complain bad talk anyone, I just want to be able to drive my truck again.

That being said, any insight is greatly appreciated!

After I acknowledge the error code by pressing ok it acts like it has flashed the tune (although I can tell it hasn't) and tells me to turn the key off, followed by the 40 sec timer. The reason I say it hasn't flashed it is because the error code comes up instantly where in reality the flash should take a couple minutes. They say after that Full 1A flash to just use the prog_xxxx to load the actual tune you want to run. Do you know what the difference is between the full and prog, maybe just a partial tune after the base tune is already loaded? And do you think it would hurt anything to try doing the prog step without a successful full flash?

Sorry to answer the second part of your question I have confirmed that it does have 1 license available. It has not yet been associated with my truck. I have thought about associating that license with my truck through the EFI software and then trying again but have not attempted that yet.

Not yet man, I worked with them on it a little bit today, ended up emailing them one of my tune files. Thank you Hotroddually for your help, I really appreciate it. After looking into it further through EFI Live Explorer I could see that there is only 1 Full Flash file and the rest are just cal files. So if the full flash is not working I'm kind of screwed. I did find one interesting thing though. In the Explorer it shows the autocal serial # and VIN that each tune is made for. The autocal serial # was correct however the VIN that it showed did not match my VIN. I emailed them with this info, they did not seem overly concerned about it but said they would try changing the VIN to mine. To me it seemed like it would make perfect sense based on the description of the error code. I am wondering if our orders got mixed up or something, I was actually hoping someone else would respond to support this suspicion. If you don't mind I will PM you my VIN and if you do the same we could see if by chance they got them switched? May be a stretch but I'm getting somewhat desperate and running out of ideas.

Wondering if your gettin any support to get this issue resolved??

The permission restrictions in the Autocal remote file can be set for any number of different restrictions.

If the file is restricted to a specific ECM Serial number then the software checks the truck ecm serial number for a match to the tune serial number under the security permissions, if they do not match it won't load, also if the Autocal Serial Number or License number does not match it won't load.

These restrictions prevent other trucks from being flashed with the tune that was sent by the tuner, it also keeps it from being used by other efi users, shops, etc.

Good Luck, it should be an easy fix.

Thanks for your advice Moonshine, It seems like the error code we are getting has to do with the ECM serial number not matching up. I didn't want to bother the guys over the holidays so I checked in again on Thursday. From what I gathered we are waiting on EFILive who is closed through the 6th (New Zealand time) so I am hoping to hear back soon. At this point my truck is returned back to stock and running fine. I did get a 5"-4" reducer since I had cut the factory exhaust before it goes over the axle so I just kept the back 2 pieces of my flo-pro in there. My excitement is fading but I am sure once I can finally get it deleted it will be worth it. I'll throw up another post when something changes.

We did have a issue I found Friday that every once in a while when I would change the serial number to that matched on the truck, efi would ignore my changes and put the old number back in and I'm willing to bet that's likely what happened on yours. Vin doesn't matter for security purposes, I just use that to address which OS to use when building the files.

I should be caught back up by mid day tomorrow so I can start getting back on to any support I have on the table left!

Thanks,
Kory

Sounds good Kory thanks for chiming in on this thread. I had a feeling it would be something simple like that. Hopefully it will be a quick fix. I'm more than ready to try it out when you have time to get it done. Let me know if there is anything else you need from me.

No sir, I haven't heard from anyone since Kory posted on here. Pretty ridiculous, a month and a half after I received it and told them about the issue right away.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem Tyler but I am glad to hear you got it figured out. I did grab the stock file for my truck from 4shared as well just in case I ever have a use for it. Unfortunately, since I only have the autocal and not the V2 I am unable to try that option but I definitely appreciate the input. The truck is still running fine stock as far as I can tell, no codes or anything. The only problem, and one of my main reasons for wanting to delete is that my DEF tank is frozen solid since the truck sits in cold weather for so long without being driven.

I wouldn't mind going the h&s MCC route with Kory either but with all the issues on the 2013s with cruise control I would like to see that resolved first. So that is still on the table but not my first choice.

Kory, thank you again for updating me on the progress. I am sorry if I came across rude, I don't mean to be disrespectful at all. I understand the whole thing with the LML is relatively new and am not upset about the issue itself, it's just nice to know it is being looked into as well as getting some status updates along the way.

Thanks again,
Forrest
