What do your fluid levels look like? Trans, TCase, diff... That would be where I'd start but its hard to diagnose things without more info or hearing it in person.

Is the truck up to normal temp? My 06 lbz whines like a baby when it's cold. I hate it. I've gone over everything and I think it's one of my idler pulleys.

Mine did as well when it would drop below freezing. It quited down significantly after I flushed 5 quarts of new fluid through the hydro-boost.

 

@D2DAMAX, were you able to check your fluids as others have suggested? I hope you’re able to get this resolved quickly.

My 2001 lb7 did this it was the trans pump whining. Didn't hurt anything but was so loud I put a whole new trans in. Problem solved

 

Fluids are all good. It's always around operating temperature when it happens. 90% of the time, starting, warm up and day to day driving it sounds great. It's just when down shifting and getting the RPM's approx. over 3K. My best guess is the fan clutch or bearing? Just thought I'd see if anyone has had the same issue... Thanks
