No check engine light

So normally people are happy not having a check engine light. However, since I got the truck and did the egr delete I noticed that my truck never throws the light on. It does come on when you first turn the key on for like I think normally should for 5 or so sec and then cuts off. From my edge insight I'm getting the following codes: p0489, p02141, p02144. These are all EGR related from the delete and emissions related. I also have the unfortunate news of my transmission is going out so I have also had a p0700 & p0743. I thought I might have inherited a tuned truck that may have modified the check engine functionality but someone on here was nice enough to send me their stock 2500 lb7 tune and when I did a comparison of the two none of it was different. I have gone as far as removing the MAF, barometer, and the Y-bridge MAP sensor all three and still no light but shows up in the edge insight. I'm kind of at a loss on what it might be so the reason for my question. What am I missing on what its not throwing the light?

I will say that my dash is having the deal where it doesn't like to come on right away but it does after you put it in drive or backup just a little bit it will come on. Figured I'd throw that out there just in case that may be the case?

Any help would be appreciated.

It may be the dash cluster. However, I cannot be 100% sure, so don't run out and buy a refurbished cluster for just the idea that it may fix the CEL light. There is a module built into the circuit board of the cluster, and it might be that this module is what operates the clusters icon. A call to one of the sites that deals in remanufactured/rebuilt clusters would be who I'd call to verify this. There are several on Ebay, or a Google search on "200x Chevy Silverado cluster repair" will net you some contacts to get in touch with.

After taking my cluster out on at least 3 different occasions to do the solder trick (use a soldering iron to heat up the solder around the pins that plug the cluster into its wiring harness), I finally contacted a company that sells refurbished clusters. You buy one from them; they charge a $50.00 core that you get back when you send them your old one (they even provide the pre-paid shipping label). They flash your mileage into the new replacement.

So for me, getting a new cluster with nice fresh, working LED dash lights and all working gauges and DIC (driver information center), it was worth it.

@MeBucko thanks for that information. Didn't even think to give them a call. I'll try to search for one of them aamd call them on my lunch break. Who did you call?
