I have a 2018 GMC 2500 and ordered the moog sever duty pitman arm from dmax store. I was under the truck over the weekend and could not see how to get a puller on it. I removed the steering box bolts but it still did not give enough wiggle room to move past the crossmember, forwards or back. I've read on older model trucks you take off the bolts and the steering assembly will rotate towards the firewall giving enough room. Did the design change after 2017 with the newer body style? I called a few local shops and they all said it's a 4.5 hr job and must remove the steering gearbox to get it off then bleed the system. Has anyone experienced this or have suggestions?

One quick search and I found this. Clicky

I saw that post as well. 2017+ has the digital steering assist so there is less room to move the pitman arm to get the puller positioned. At least that is what I found with a few hours under the truck.

Don’t waste your time trying to pull it. Carefully cut it off. I cut it with a cutting wheel almost all the way thru. Then wedge a cold chisel in the cut joint and hit it with a hammer. Or use an air chisel. That should fracture the last material you did not cut thru initially.

I looked at that as well. Because of how the pitman arm sits on the newer body style trucks, you cannot access the nuts or threads underneath so you can;t get a puller positioned on. Unless you cut all the way through or chisel until it cracks completely off.
