I currently have a PPE Race tuner on my lmm. I should've never bought it. I haven't cared for it since day one. It always freezes up on the do not distrubEE screen while loading a tune.

I recently purchased EFI live. This morning while trying to tune my truck back to the stock tune (using the PPE). Who would've guessed it froze up while returning my truck back to stock on the "Do not distrubEE" screen. So now after about 45min. I unplugged it as I always did before.

But now it won't load anything just freezes up. And worst of all. There my truck sits won't start. Has an abs and brake light on the dash but won't do anything .. I unhooked both batterys now trying to reset it.

If this doesn't work any suggestions?? I just want that P.O.S out of my truck so I can get my stock tune out and sent to my tuner. Then I'll never be looking back to PPE again.

There are several reasons for the freeze that I am aware of-- and these will probably will affect all tuners. Starting the load with weak batteries, opening or closing doors, and turning other powered items on and off like a phone /radio. PPE recommended removing two fuses on the older models to keep the interference at a minimum. Some never do it and never have trouble-- others do not follow PPE's recommendations and fry the ECM.

The PPE is a good tuner and there are 1,000s in service with out any problems. It is a "Canned" tuner and designed to be a "Plug-n-Play" tuner for those that do not want to spend the hours learning all the settings of EFI. If you do not understand EFI, you can do expensive engine damage by using the wrong settings.

I suggest you remove the tuner and then plug it back in and try to load the stock tune.

Where did you get your efi? Usually they can lookup your vin# and get a stock tune that way. And once you get EFI live, a full flash should over write your ECM without pulling the PPE tune. Wait til tommorow and call your tuna. He can give you more pointers--- goodluck man!

I'd call PPE, I had the PPE on my LMM before EFI, I didnt have the problems your having, though I did have the 'dont not disturbEEEE thing before.. annoying. but just unplug it, i had no problems
Tuning wise, i wouldnt say its a POS, but compared to Rob @ ATP's tunning, it is a night and day difference

I've tried unplugging it and trying again. That's what I've done in the past. This time I try that and it keeps freezing. I've also tried it with the fuses and without. Going to hook the batteries back up And see what's going on.

Get ahold of your EFi tuner! They may have to send you a new stock tune using your vin#

This happened to me once. You need to charge your batteries, and like said above make sure nothing is pluged in, turn off your headlights, keep doors closed and pull the fuse under the hood.

I just hooked my batteries back up. Plugged it in. Went into the tune mode. Now it's froze on the (checking stored vin# against vehicle vin #). I know one thing, I'd never recommend this tuner to anyone. Adds a lot of power, if your looking for a on and off switch for a fuel peddle. But with the head ache I've got from this tuner every time i have plugged it in. If isn't worth it.

:gearjaminUpdate...thanks to everyone for your input . I dunno what I'd do without this site sometimes. I know the old lady would be sick of me bitchin.

I pulled the fuses. Tried it with no luck. Put them all back in. Including my lift pump. Tried it again and it loaded stock tune back in no problems.. I dunno what the problem was, but I'll be up and it running with efi live from synthetic motorsports and Kory Willis here soon.

Weak battereis as others stated and my bet be lift pump pulling to much....
Next time listen to others or contact tuner before ripping and down grading a product when its pry sumthing else wrong or sumthing that your not doing right....
Just love how people jump the gun all the time and whatever it is, is automatically a piece of shit...

At first my pump couldn't be drawing anything I had all the fuses pulled. I'd had this PPE about a year now. Everytime I try to switch tunes it's froze up. Maybe there's just something wrong with mine. I've talked to PPE about it an that's what they say is weak batteries also. But that's had to believe when they both load test good and test good for cca's .

And when I finally got it working my pumps fuse was back in and it was running then?

Ya as jc1843 said I always turn OFF when I change tunes on my Edge tuner.i'm paranoid as heck about having an issue like the OP.
