Hey, guys. I apologize if the text is not very clear, I am from Russia and I am writing to you through a translator. I drive a Chevy Silverado 3500hd 2008 Duramax 6.6 + Allison 1000. Modification of the LMM engine. In addition to the elevator and wheels, the car is completely standard, with a mileage of 110,000 miles. How reliable is this engine and transmission? What problems can we expect from this machine in the future? I have factory installed EGR and DPF on my car, do I need to remove them or can I leave them in the car? Thank you all in advance!

The major key to the longevity of these trucks is the scheduled maintenance. If the maintenance has been kept up to date and the truck has not been abused, it will give you many, many miles of service.

I along with many others on this board are firm believers in leaving these trucks in stock form. But, there are other folks that believe doing mods is a good thing as well.

As I too have an LMM, I am a fan of the model. Mine is bone stock and the only things that have failed in 12 years are; TCM, one glow plug and the fuel filter head. At 110k miles, it is just getting broken in, you should have no concerns if the maintenance has been kept up to date and not abused.

I haven't deleted anything from the truck.

My intown mileage is around 13 MPG, 18 MPG highway, 10 MPG towing a 15k fifth wheel camper.

My LMM had 230,000 miles on it before I had any issues with the emissions equipment. I traded it in at 260,000 miles.

I changed the fuel filter every 7000 to 10000 miles.

I changed the oil on the same interval.

привет ты где в россии?

My LMM has 185k miles, the mileage does not concern me. My concern would be parts availability, but obviously we do not know the laws in Russia for modification of vehicles. It looks like you're in a more rural area, I don't think I'd want to drive a dual rear wheel vehicle or even a single rear wheel truck through any city center in Russia. If deleting is legal in your country, you'll need to find a tuner that can sell to you in your country, most likely they would be located in Canada or New Zealand. I speculate that deleting is not a big deal like it is in the USA.

I live in the country, I use the car on the highway. We have only a few such cars, very rare. Spare parts are mostly custom made from the USA. I usually take it on eBay or rockauto, these stores have delivery to Russia. I do not want to delete the EGR and DPF, but I want to be sure that these systems will not harm my car in the future.

From - 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 - LTZ 4x4 HD Crew Cab Dual Rear Wheel Specifications | Autobytel.com
Payload - 4706 lbs / 2134.6 kg
Towing - 9100 lbs / 4127.7 kg (I think 5th wheel or gooseneck towing will be higher)

I know people who tow 15k lbs 5th wheel trailers (6803.9 kg). The key is to make sure you don't exceed the axle weight rating which will be impacted by tongue weight.
I've edited this post a few times now because I'm confused about the truck's model year (the post I'm quoting says 2007 but the thread title says 2008). It's either a 2007.5 or a 2008; in either case, it's an LMM and so the 2007 (LBZ) towing capacity numbers are not relevant.

According to this PDF the conventional towing capacity is 13,000 lbs. and FW/GN is 16,500 lbs. That sounds more like what I'd expect for a one-ton truck from that era.

Your situation will be different since you are in Russia, I would look at Canadian companies like Motor Ops if you plan to remove emissions equipment due to different rules. If you want emissions present tuning, Duramax Tuner (DuramaxTuner.com) would be a good option.

Be careful buying tunes as they are not all created equally and a bad tune will likely feel great until something breaks, even then you may not know the tune caused premature failure.
