Range Shift inhibit from Snow

Hey guys. I was driving around last weekend in a fresh 4" of light fluffy snow. Had to take some junk down to a local dump. While I was there I couldnt pass up the prime opportunity for donuts on the fresh untouched snow in the lot. So I pull in rip a donut and go about unloading the truck. Heading out I figured Id rip another donut. So at the completion of that donut my dash lit up like the front of my house at Christmas time. I was stuck in first gear. I figured OK, lots of stupid unnecessary electronics on the truck something probably got confused. Put it in park. Then I was in Limp mode. Drove 5 miles to my parents place to asses the situation. Speedometer didnt work the entire time. I had a TCM 722 code. Cleared that and it went away. Tried to leave and the dumb thing went into RANGE SHIFT INHIBIT. Starting to get angry at this point. Tried several more times, disconnected batteries etc. Called the wife and she brought my torpedo heater over. I fried all the snow off the wheels and undercariage and the dumb truck has been fine since. Really glad I wasnt driving in snow at my hunting cabin where Im on the side of a mountain with no phone service. I would have been screwed. Anyone have this happen to them? Seriously considering trading in for a manual. For something that stupid to completely disable my vehicle is asinine and dangerous. Any thoughts?

The P0722 code is the output speed sensor- connector shorted, possible broken wire, or loose connector. That is the sensor at the rear of the transfer case [4X4], or back of the trans on 2X4. That tells the TCM when to shift, and also provides the speedo road speed.

The early models had a problem with the pump rocking in the transfer case- that can wear a hole in the rear cover -- can wear the TC parts and have erratic output signal. Go to tools at the top, and search "Pump Rub"

Thanks! One thing I know for sure is it better not be a problem in the transfer case. I had the pump rub fix done by Big Dipper when he built my transmission. I just checked fluid level 3 months ago and it was full. Gonna have to check speed sensor wires I guess.
